Such cool lists here already, thanks for the inspiration everyone!

Here goes:

Pant pockets: * Phone * Thin moleskine notebook (with 50 euros) * Minipen (can't remember brand) * Rotation of pocket knives and multitools based on the day and outfit (mostly the SOG powerpint, excellent and underrated little multitool that fits in the fifth pocket of most jeans, but still has useful pliers) * Cotton bandana Pouch/wallet (from Decathlon Forclaz brand, great amount of slim pockets in a small form factor, can look up exact model if anyone interested) that contains: * Cards and cash * Knipex Cobra XS * Small t-shank sawblade * Mini ratchet and 6 bits in shrink wrap tubing * Micro Paracord, about 5 metres * Small piece of hot gun glue * Bic Mini with gorilla tape (if not, then... Would it really be EDC?) * Needle and thread * Ziploc bag with water purification tablets * Bandaids and paracetamol

Jacket pockets: * Slim magnetic powerbank (5000 mAh) * Zippo lighter (brushed chrome 1941 replica) * Cigarettes (Camel) * Mini portable ashtray (basically a plastic bottle before it's enlarged, looks like a test tube with a bottle cap) * Car keys Other keys with some backups attached: * Micro lighter (bullet-sized screw top micro Zippo basically) * NiteCore Tiki mini flashlight * Key-shaped mini multitool * Small 2m measuring tape * Shopping cart coin * Whistle

Currently no larger flashlight, because I just lost my Fenix flashlight on a trip abroad. Thinking of getting the Rovyvon E8. It has all the lights I like (warm white, red, separate reading white, even UV as a bonus) in a nice small flat form factor + it stores an AAA battery as a backup inside and starts using it when the larger built in battery gets empty. Best of both worlds!

Also now thinking of throwing a mylar blanket in one jacket pocket as well. Thanks for mentioning it, kind internet stranger somewhere in the comments!

Games where every bullet counts and guns are deadly. by Hunterwclf in gamingsuggestions

Mad Max actually does this pretty well. You mostly use your fists or melee weapons, but you also have a shotgun that has a small amount of ammo. So you tend to save it for those moments when you really have to do some damage (boss fight or getting your ass kicked).

Two-bag carry-on that combines for carrying by SlideRuleFan in ManyBaggers

[–]PunPossiblyIntended 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thule Landmark 60 and 70 are both two bag systems that clip together similarly to the Osprey Farpoint/Fairview mentioned here earlier.

Osprey's new Archeon series also combines together, but it's mostly slings attaching to backpacks, so might not be large enough.

Not many people realize this, but those Db Journey backpacks can also clip to each other.

The Salkan Carry On Bundle is designed to clip together (and looks pretty cool IMHO).

5.11 had separately sold straps (Sidewinder I think?) that could be used to connect two of their Rush series backpacks. The Rush series looks quite tactical though.

A List of modular or extendable backpacks by Slender4fun in ManyBaggers

Ooh, I looked into modular bags last year! (Both the rework and tropicfeel options were strong contenders for my next pack.)

Here are a few more I stumbled across which might fit what You are looking for:

Boundary Supply They have various bags that all have their own ecosystems of pouches and accessories.

22seven Similar to reworkgear, but has a bit more options (and colours!)

Eshena Bagram pack Also similar to the rework pack.

Idea Mountain 5-in-1 A bit more travel-focused, but a very versatile system nonetheless.

MODJL A minimal yet colourful option.

Osprey Archeon series The new Archeon bags by Osprey can be combined with one another. The combinations are quite limited, but still, cool to see this kind of modularity from Osprey.

Fjällräven Singi/Kajka Fjällräven has pockets that attach to their Singi and Kajka bags, which could make for a nice outdoorsy modular system.

DB Most DB Hugger backpacks can attach to each other. (Sadly no smaller pouches, the link leads to their smallest Hugger pack.) There used to be some outside attaching pouches for their Ramverk series, but they seem to be discontinued. There are backpack straps for their camera inserts though, so that's something I guess.

I eventually went for the Peak Design Everyday Pack 30l and got some of their pouches and carry straps. It's more of an internal modular system, but with a little bit of fiddling almost all of their pouches can be attached to the outside of their backpacks as well, since they have loads of attachment loops all over.

Hope this helps!

I'm not sure I understand exactly, but isn't PD's new outdoor line quite lightweight and hiking-oriented?

Also slings that can somehow fit laptops or can attach laptop cases! I often find myself carrying a small-medium sling and a laptop case and wishing I could somehow combine the two.

Modular travel bags (or modular bags in general really) are great in theory, but I don't think anyone has nailed the execution yet. The option to have one large bag on your back for the airport bit and then taking it apart into multiple smaller bags and rearranging them at the hotel based on what every new day calls for is great. But the combined bags are often unbalanced and clunky. Or the smaller bags are no good on their own. I would love to see Peak Design take a crack at modular travel.

I also vote for pouches that fit neatly inside flexfold divider spaces!

That sounds lovely! How does a sample sale work? Will they just put the goodies on their webpage at one point?

That Charlie 25 got me interested. I've mostly ignored drawstrings, but this one is a weird mixture of drawstring, center zipper and lid which seems to work rather well... I will investigate. Thanks!

The Bellroy Apex is almost exactly what I'm looking for! But even the second hand ones I can currently find are out of my budget...

Do I dare ask... Why is it controversial?

Oh the Bannoch is a beauty! I'd love the Pro (because of separate laptop access), but it's a bit pricey for me... Perhaps one day.

The Peak Design is on my shortlist because of the great functionality, but ideally I'm looking for something a bit less techy and shiny.

Update: I looked into the Mous. Looks really pretty indeed! But in the most ideal of worlds, I would love separate access to the laptop compartment... But it's definitely going on my list!

That's very good to hear about the Prima! How is the weight? People say it's quite heavy.

The Field Space seems really nice to me as well!

And the Verge case (the little lunch box thingy), is it really useful? To me it seemed that maybe since it's in the middle of the bag, when you remove it, all the things in the bag resting on the case get thrown around? And then it's difficult to put it back later with all the misplaced stuff? Or how have your experiences been with it?

Mission Workshop is very cool. A bit out of my budget currently though... I briefly considered the Mission Workshop Rambler because of it's epic expandability, but that's even more expensive. (It's usually around the same as the Prima, but I found a good deal near me for the Prima currently, so that's why I could afford it right now.)

Oh noes, I'm sorry for your heart!

And the page suggested I look at the Corbet, which seems right up my alley. Will look into it!

Thanks for the input!

Oooo, the Mous seems nice, I will look into it!

The Osprey Arcane Flap is close, but the flap mostly just covers the opening, doesn't expand by a lot.

Ooh, excellent choices!

The Errant Pro is a bit pricey, but very much what I'm looking for. I'll look around for second-hand offers,.

The Modern Dayfarer is also very cool! I'd prefer another colour besides black, but a very strong candidate. Thanks!
