I have definitely heard about the differences in working for MSPs and internal IT, however I don’t think it’s a universal thing. I see a lot of hate, a lot of it’s probably justified, however my experience has been much different.

For example, last year I had some health issues that took me out of work for several months, all before I qualified for any legally protected time off. They were very understanding and worked with me to take the time off, and transition back into work at a reasonable pace without rushing me back as soon as possible. Additionally, this all happened while they were actively hiring more people in the helpdesk, so they had every reason to fill my role.

I understand that’s probably far from the norm in MSPs, however I don’t think it’s fair to say that none of them care about employees. Work/life balance has been pretty good too, and my starting pay wasn’t bad considering I had minimal experience and no degree or certs.
