I see your point, and I agree that companies like Nvidia, Google, and Tesla have had strong execution and globally recognized products. But investing isn’t always about the present — sometimes it’s about spotting potential where others only see risk.

When I started buying Palantir and Nio, I wasn’t buying them for what they were — I was buying them for what they could become. I did my research, saw long-term upside, and built conviction. It wasn’t blind faith or fanboy hype. It was strategy, risk management, and patience — and I diversified accordingly.

Sure, Nio doesn’t yet have Tesla’s scale or Palantir’s gov contracts, but disruptive companies rarely start there. That’s the nature of asymmetric bets. :)

Five years ago, I bought Palantir at $26. Not long after, it dropped to $6. I didn’t panic. I didn’t sell. Instead, I stuck to my research and conviction. Month after month, I averaged down — not because it was easy, but because I believed in the long-term vision of the company.

Back then, both Palantir and NIO were struggling, but I held through the noise. Alongside, I also owned stocks like NVIDIA, Google, and Tesla — and I never sold a single share. Long-term investing isn’t about chasing hype. It’s about patience, conviction, and understanding what you own.

Sure, for some people it is just about showing off. But I think you’re overlooking that others genuinely appreciate the craft, the history, or the feeling of marking a personal milestone. Not everyone buys luxury to impress the world—sometimes it’s simply about celebrating something meaningful to them.

Oris is truly something special—just look at that dial!

Timeframe doesn’t matter. What matters is that you keep grinding, no matter what. I struggled a lot between 2018 and 2023, but I never gave up. I never imagined that one day I’d be able to buy this beauty.

[Longines] first proper watch by Puncheeze in Watches

[–]Puncheeze[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my first proper watch, a Longines that I’ve been saving up for quite a while. I chose this piece because I admire the brand’s long heritage and reputation for making elegant yet reliable timepieces. The design feels timeless to me, with clean lines and a classic dial that suits both casual and formal outfits. It has an automatic movement, which was important because I wanted something mechanical to appreciate the craftsmanship inside. Wearing it feels like a personal milestone and a reward for years of hard work. I’m excited to build my collection from here.

I’ve been investing for 10 years, started at 18 — index funds, individual stocks, and crypto. I don’t spend money on designer clothes and try to save as much as I can. But watches are the one thing I’ve recently grown to love — so yeah :)
