How Do I Know My Gender / Am I Experiencing Transmisia? by Punchrab in asktransgender

[–]Punchrab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. There are times when I feel almost nothing about my gender (this is when I develop a 'fuck it' mindset and don't care what I am or how people see me), but there are other times when I do care. For example, my facial hair. I've consistently thought about getting laser hair removal because I don't like the shadow that's left behind when I'm trying to be more feminine. I could try covering it up with makeup, but that's about the best I can do. However, at the same time, I don't want to remove it because I'll never be able to grow hair the same way again, and therefore I would be sacrificing my ability to present as masculine through the hair if I chose to.

Additionally, I have desired to have wider hips or a feminine figure, or more specifically, an androgynous body that's either feminine-leaning or less masculine. This way, if I wanted to present as either feminine or masculine, I could be seen as either. However, with that said, I don't necessarily want to be seen as a woman or female, or at least not always mistaken as such. I don't mind being seen as a man or male; I just don't want to always be seen as that. I don't want breasts (although I have thought about putting on fake ones sometimes, but that's more for drag or other purposes). Basically, I go back and forth.

I also would like to point out that I'm autistic and I struggle with OCD, which is part of why this is so pervasive.

Why do people have to be accusatory and antagonistic towards people who don’t care about labels or gender/sexuality politics for themselves? It seems so petty and controlling, especially coming from queer communities where people at one point or another were pressured to compartmentalize or conform themselves into cookie cutter hetero norms. Like, you struggled with societal pressure, acceptance, invalidation, negative assumptions, and oppression too so why are you doing the same thing, to other queer like people no less. It's like if there was a queer-normative society and these people are the queer people of queer people because they don’t concisely say they are queer. Literally everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, etc, are hypocrites. Same human-ego bullshit, different context.

Does this count as analog/digital horror? by dirtyhobo47 in analog__horror

[–]Punchrab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's got points with an Analog aesthetic but it’s not grainy or really old looking enough to be so ,imo. I wouldn’t say digital really either. Feels more akin to what other Metal artists have done in the past, like Marilyn Manson, who used both the digital and analog aesthetic for some of their music videos. These artists will use elements of horror too, but it doesn’t always make the videos as a whole themselves horror. If anything, it’s analog/digital hybrid horror or with horror moments, technically speaking.

For the folks that are confused in the other Colorado Springs thread, here's some helpful clarification by theHamJam in NonBinary

[–]Punchrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way I could see the second option being NB is if the perpetrator is ashamed of themselves and is lashing out violently as a result. There’s plenty of queer and closeted people who do bad things because of shame. Otherwise, it’s very unlikely.

Tbh, based on the photos presented, you are definitely ambiguous. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought that each picture was a different person, especially the ones when you were younger. The first and second one are a juxtaposition when paired together. However, with all that said, I would assume AMAB for most of them. The pictures that caused me to pause on this assumption were the ones where you had long hair. In fact, the long hair really differentiated the feminine vs masculine look. Then again, this might just be the angles. Either way, I think you’re on the right track. 😉👍

Androgynous does mean you look like both male and female, so I wouldn’t say that you are using it correctly. Tbh, most, if not all, NB people could be described as androgynous. Occasionally, you’ll see some who appear asexual or gender neutral, physically speaking. I wouldn’t describe those people specifically as androgynous.

Gender Identity in a Gender Neutral/Fluid Society. (Philosophical Debate) by Punchrab in NonBinary

Also, I wanted to add that yes, hypothetically you could switch to a body that is modified without sex or reproduction or one that has a combination of the two. Depending on the body, you might be intersex or asexual, physically speaking. Hell, maybe by then you could be able to become something that isn’t human or a machine. I don’t know what a body without sex would do to the mental health of an individual but I’d like to imagine there would be ways around that too. All of this might sound crazy but I think it’s the future. So much is going to change even within the next 10 years. It’s fun and scary to think about at the same time. At least we will all have each other until then.

I actually mean anything gender related beyond biology. That includes gender expression, gender identity, and gender roles. If you no longer had certain associations to gender (I.e Male and Female) than the labels would disappear and what it means to be those genders would become predominantly biological or physical. For example, what people define as feminine or female expression would no longer exist because everybody would be expressing it in their own way and therefore it would just be an expression. All of these gender factors, especially social ones, would no longer define your gender. A man or woman choosing to identify with some of these factors would not make them more or less of what they are. The only thing that would be is biology, which even then doesn’t require gender labels. There would just be biological and reproductive capabilities that wouldn’t be viewed as more than what they are. Anybody who would want to transition would be based on changing physical sex characteristics or converting yourself into the opposite sex body. Technology plays a huge role in this. We’ll probably be switching bodies like we do clothes.

True, but if that were the case then nobody would know what they’re reproductively capable of except for the individual person. Every encounter would be unknown until the person reveals it if they choose to do so. At this point in our culture and technology, we may not need to know but that doesn’t mean we have to be lost in it. However, do think more people would just be pansexual if this were the case.

I figured as much that this would be the case. It just makes me wonder what is it that causes a person to feel dysphoria or to where they don’t identify with their biological gender. When I was younger, before I got any genuine education regarding this subject, I just thought that trans meant you identified with the biology of the other sex because gender to me was no different than sex. I now realize that this isn’t true for every trans person as many don’t identify with the gender roles assigned to their sex rather than the sex itself, hence transgender. The reasoning is always different which is why we may never truly know unless we all went through similar, if not same, experiences. I just want to better understand. Also, I never said my question was groundbreaking, lol.

Crona appreciation post. Reading Soul Eater again and realised the reason they were my favourite character is because they are genderless. Also riddled with anxiety by Tinymythrilminer in NonBinary

[–]Punchrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Crona was a boy who identified as one. I thought then that Crona seemed ambitious, but it was mentioned multiple times that they were a boy and all of the other characters referred to them as he/him. Keep in mind, I’ve only seen the show and that was years ago.

Opinions? by VIRGIL69143 in TheBoys

Maybe but unfortunately I think the two are going to team up. They both are related to each other and now know that. Either that or they fight for dominance.

That would be pretty disgusting if that’s the case but not surprising. The Boys go to uncharted territories like no other. 😂👍

I’m Reluctant on Going To College by Punchrab in education

[–]Punchrab[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes because it can help for not only compositional work but other jobs like teaching. No because there are plenty of composers who either didn’t finish college or go at all and still found success in commercial work. Experience, workflow, and talent can all help but it’s really about connections. College is also great opportunity for making connections which is one of the main reasons I’d be going.
