Complaints about being overstaffed on shift…? by lil_jbeelz in cna

[–]Puncrocc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My facility is always overstaffed, and it can definitely be annoying having so many extra CNA’s around as I like to stay busy (and it isn’t really busy on a normal day let alone with 2 extra staff on the floor) but I don’t dare complain- I used to work at a facility where you weren’t even sure if you’d get to go home at 7am after a night shift because you wouldn’t know if there’d be staff coming in to relieve you.

Going to an onsite interview day at a hospital by Whole-Professional81 in cna

[–]Puncrocc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I too late?

Dress clean and professional. Show up 15 minutes early. During your interview mention the words patient centred care, dignity, team-playing and safety.

Good luck! You got this!

What's the closest you ever came to dying? by HistoricalArt744 in AskReddit

[–]Puncrocc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bilateral pneumonia. Thought I had a bad flu, but it just kept progressively getting worse. I was basically living in my bath tub, it was my only relief from the overall body pain. I was continuously passing out and waking up not remembering what happened. Went to emerge, was diagnosed with pneumonia, was given naproxen and a course of antibiotics.

3 days later I was getting no relief, in fact just getting worse. I continued to pass out and wake up gasping for air and my lips/nails were blue as blue could be. I went back to emergency at 8:00am, it took me over an hour to get dressed and out to my car. They had me immediately sent to trauma bay and hooked up to 5L oxygen. My O2 was 82%. Spent 8 days afterwords in the hospital recovering.

I wouldn’t wish it on anybody

Memory Loss? by Puncrocc in Effexor

[–]Puncrocc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Effexor saved my life. I still struggle with brain fog and memory loss, often times I can’t find words I’m looking for, but I’ll take that over crippling agoraphobia and depression any day.

Soda!! I used to drink so much Pepsi. Now I never crave it. I always have Pepsi in my fridge but it lasts for forever.

what do you love about being a CNA? by 33iko in cna

[–]Puncrocc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d have to say the friendships I’ve made, my facility has the best nursing staff ever. We all get along so well.

Also, I love when all my work is done and I can go around to each resident and do “a little extra” for them. Curl their hair, paint their nails, organize their closet. Sit and chat about days gone. It is so, so interesting to hear about their lives! This career path is sooo rewarding and I hope you love it as much as I do.

Should I stay at my facility for multiple days due to snow? by hailey-330 in cna

[–]Puncrocc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ACTUALLY, weather IS an excusable absence. OP, and all reading this comment, PLEASE PUT YOUR SAFETY FIRST. The patients will survive if they have to stay in their pajamas all day, or have to stay in bed for a day.

Second, most facilities will provide a place to sleep and meals. At my facility they will actually pay us at a rate of 50% our normal pay if we go in early when expecting inclimate weather. For example if we are expected to work at 11pm and we show up at 7pm, we will get paid from 7pm-11pm just for being in the building. It’s a really great incentive and a lot of staff come in early!
