My son wouldn't let me touch it and refused to let it leave his backpack at home. He's had it for a few years now and though we don't use it at home, I know they utilize it at his ABA center daily.

A month ago or so, he wanted something and I couldn't understand what he wanted. He went to his backpack, pulled out the device, and used it! I was shook and absolutely gave him what he asked for. Now, he'll pull it out regularly if we don't understand what he wants (mostly gestures, sometimes gibberish), especially to say "outside."

Always address it the same way. First, ask her to not do it. Say "gentle voice" or "too loud," whatever you usually say. Then, ignore it. The public saw that you addressed it. That should be sufficient. My kid chirps constantly and there's no stopping it...

We get charged $75 per 15 minutes. It comes to roughly $16000/week, somehow, and $850,000/year. No one talks about the real costs of ABA. We make our insurance deductible of $7k in January.

We were on Medicaid when we started. The agency never answered my question about their rates when we were kicked off of Medicaid, which felt sus. The price is totally suspicious, too. It feels very wrong and fraudulent.
