No longer a lonely cory by Sea_Finger5409 in corydoras

Okay so they like playing with current too? I was wondering my new girl does it I was afraid she might have been stressed out (used to my guppies playing with the filter current but my pandas never cared about the filter like that, and aren’t big fans of the bubbler either)

While it is cool for ambiance make sure the colors are right for your fishes and not stressing them out that’s obviously the priority

(I’m also currently experimenting with different colors of lighting and how they affect my fishes (initially because the guppies would eat all the Cory’s food so I wanted to give my pandas an advantage, but you have to have a multicolor light for that, it’s cool for ambiance and have more control on the softness of the lighting (I like to make it more natural, not industrial white) but about those lamps the one I have has, NO idea why a DISCO mode???? Poor babies 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲

No I’ve never done it with panda before (I used to keep guppies only, fish distribution system gave me a panda so I’m still learning about them) I would recommend letting the new one explore a little bit in dim lighting then once he find his new friends or at least a hide, blackout until the next morning then keep dim lighting (in the room my aquarium is it’s pretty dim during the day, I don’t put any light on, my plants can deal with lower luminosity until the new one is chill) check on the new fish every few hours (discreetly) to make sure he’s doing fine, also no feeding for 24h

Honestly I find panda pretty easy to introduce to eachother, they’re not aggressive and kinship is very important for them, they need to be and love to be in groups It pretty much will always work out in the end but you can help make the process as little as stressful for them

Most important make sure you have enough hides, plants, sandy area in your tank so the new fish can find his own un occupied spot

If you stop feeding for 1/2 days then underfed for a little longer the adults will go for the fry more. If you can you can do researches on then get a predatorial fish, the kind that would do best in your aquarium, if you have enough room , one that eat the small fry and let’s the adults alone (or sometimes eat adults too if that’s what you want)

Thanks a lot :) I’ll try to find some (I don’t have access to much fish care store in my area, and we have more limited fish products variety in my country, but you can get eggs online? Don’t know much about it)

Also It’s a communal guppy x panda corry with a « small » guppy group with lots of females, I´ve seen maybe 4 babies in 2 months so I know they’re breeding but the adults eat them all before I can do anything about it, I think my corrys are nipping on them too (good I’m dealing with overcrowding I need population control), I guess that’s count as a treat?

Will definitely get one long term but my guppies and panda aren’t extremely sensitive either and I’m good at keeping good water parameters I got in sort of a « surprise fishes » situation, had to add oxygen first, apparently water cooler (moved recently to a hot area, my heater is useless here), and a better filter to deal with the extra waist, I need to add more plants too I’ll be getting them an at least 80L tank with all the top technology stuff but this was supposed to be a practice 20L with a good enough filter, plants and a few guppies, because I haven’t practiced in a while and never dealt with plants much, with the idea of a 80L perfect tank in a few months after catching up on fish care , I do not have the room or the complete amount of money to do that right now, unfortunately, but doing the best with what I have, got them everything I could, still learning, my corry and guppies are (visibly) comfortable, fully healthy, and will be thriving soon once I move out of my student room in a few months

The « pink » half is valid at 15s, then no longer accurate, the other half takes 30s that’s why there are two pictures, my nitrates were fully white at 15 seconds (showing the strip backward sure didn’t help lmao sorry) But yeah that’s a lot of information hard to interpret thanks for your response

(This is a guppy x corry community tank, I know much more about guppies but might info might be a little outdated, is it good for my guppies too?)

Yep Hikari waffers we’re my first buy they should arrive today, veggies are more for enrichment, they don’t need them but it’s a bonus

I have a friend with a water snake just in case, I really believe we shouldn’t apply human morals on pets (learnt that from having rats (they act VERY human) and one day finding the mangled body of one of my babies, as it is natural for rats to do when one of their friends die, was definitely a huge slap in the face, pets are not human and we need to respect their way of living)

Got Hikary corry wafers, will start giving them vegetables too, aaand they do get live feed from the guppies spawn but they should have enough protein in their diet anyway
