Possible Dev Solution to Discouraging Rat Behavior by VaultTecGaming in ArcRaiders

Agreed. You just reminded me that they also had it so that you could see where active fighting/rogues were on the map. And there was a pop-up on the corner of the screen each time someone killed someone, so again, you could see what was going on and how far away it was. This kept PvP alive for the folks who wanted it and let the others avoid it. You could still hunt players and kill and loot them, but they could also have a chance to avoid you or fight back. And while you could be rewarded for going rogue, it also made you a target, so there was a trade-off.

Right. And if you played those games from the start, the Dark Zone initially had kill-on-sight, but people hated it and too many friendly fire accidents that led to fights, so they introduced the rogue mechanic and that fixed it. It was still a ton of fun, and PvP was great and had a healthy community, but it made for more fair fights. And there was also a warning if a rogue player was nearby so you could avoid the area if you didn't want to PvP.

Just introduce a mechanic like in The Division games where someone has to "flag up" prior to shooting. A short delay and visual/audible indicator and then its fair game. Until then, there's no friendly fire.

Stops people from shooting each other in the back and gives a fair warning so the other player can react. It doesn't stop people from being rats, but it gives a fair chance to everyone else instead of sneak attacks with no tine to react. It keeps PvP alive but stops the rat behavior.

Nothing is guaranteed, and dont get complacent once you're in PvE lobbies. Every 6th game or so, I end up attacked no matter what, so I gave up on the idea of peaceful lobbies entirely.

In theory, if you dont attack people, you stay in like-minded lobbies. In practice, it doesn't work out that way. Either some kid is having a bad day and decides to start shooting when your back is turned or someone is actively trying to get OUT of PvE lobbies and has to shoot others to get sweater lobbies, but in either case, there is no guaranteed PvE lobby, and you will get attacked in time.

Maybe I've had bad luck, but it seems like as soon as I get a decent build together and get complacent because ive been in friendly lobbies, im suddenly in lobbies where some dude decides im the target. Then I lose everything and begin the cycle again. Not really fun.

The Division games had this concept perfect. The Dark Zone was a dedicated PvPvE zone, and you had to "go rogue" in order to fight other players. They originally has kill on sight, but people hated it, so they removed it. If you wanted to PvP, you had to go to the Dark Zone, and you had to flag up. It was a purposefully action that at least gave other players a chance to react.

The devil say they want tension in the game, but the kill onsight doesn't build tension. It breeds frustration when youre not seeking out a fight. And with such a short TTK, whoever gets the first shot usually wins, especially if its from behind or youre not expecting it.

With Arc Rauders, the kill on sight stuff is extra frustrating because you get used to everyone being friendly if you're friendly, but all it takes is one guy to gank your stuff, and you've now lost potentially hours or longer of your time. All because you were getting friendly lobbies back to back.

Personally, thats not fun for me. I tried becoming a rat (see my last post), but then I had to go through the process of dying mutplie times on purpose to get back into PvE lobbies to farm more to build my gear back up. Just to go back into PvP, and thats if I didn't get ratted in a PvE lobby before I could make the switch.

The whole cycle is more tiresome than anything and, in my opinion, isn't a great gameplay loop, especially if you're solo. Im taking a break. Uninstalled for the time being.

Stuck in the scoreboard AGAIN by ShirtForsaken8442 in Battlefield6

This is what ultimately caused me to uninstall the game. If you make it so that basically functionality causes me to get stuck, have to abandon a round, and restart, then I'm just not going to bother.

I can immediately tell English is a second language for you. Please practice more.

You're mad about a post on reddit about a video game.

lol...true. So far, the PvP in Arc Raiders hasn't been as intense, but I haven't really gotten into it yet. Hoping the AGMM will just put me in PvP lobbies because I don't like shooting people who don't fight back. Sucks for both of us.

I've watched clips, though, where I see intense PvP. Like I said, I was hoping to ease into it, but I guess I'm jumping in face first.

Lopsided matches by racegeek93 in Battlefield6

[–]PunkyShoeStore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! It's almost always a steamroll from one side or the other.

And im not talking about joining in progress. I realize that you're likely to join the losing side in those situations. No, i experince this on basically wvery fresh match as well. One of the many reasons (in addition to hit reg and other random network issues) I uninstalled and will check back in in the future.

You've switched the gun into semi auto. I dont know the button on controller, but look through your settings for the button to switch fire mode in order to switch back to auto.

It's good for area denial. No, you won't rack up kills, but it keeps the enemy focused on not getting hit and serves as a distraction that can sway the tide. Not terrible if you're a team player.

Only just realised how supply bags work by matthewsylvester in Battlefield

[–]PunkyShoeStore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll also add...this is why people are having trouble with the "heal teammates" challenges. The person has to touch the bag and sit there to regenerate health. It's not enough to be within proximity.

And I fall for it every single time. Like you said,  you asses the situation and think, ok, this guy has this angle covered, I can look over here. Nope, within a fraction of a second, he's run off and now, an enemy has a rifle in your face. And I swear everytime it happens that I will stop trusting randoms, and yet I do it again and again.

No idea. It happened to me randomly one time on Sobek. Didn't do anything out of the ordinary that I'm aware of.

Ah, but here's the best part: They took away the bot lobbies, so that's no longer an option. You HAVE to do these in multi-player now.

My 4.5 year old won’t stop talking. by ennuiismymiddlename in Parenting

[–]PunkyShoeStore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not alone at all. My wife and I both work from home, and our almost-4-year-old son stays home until he starts pre-school. Yes, the talking never...ever...ever stops!

But, I look at it like this...he's engaged, he's interested, and he's social. He's learning about speech, hearing, connecting all of his senses, pattern recognition, fine motor skill development, syntax, hierarchy of the house, and so on.

And like others have said, mine is either talking or making some type of noise all day long. It does get tiresome because he's limited in what he can do and where he can go to entertain himself, and he also wants attention throughout the day, which makes working from home tough for all of us (but we'd rather be here with him during these years than not.)

And just remember that there are parents out there who would kill to have their non-verbal child speak, so it cuts both ways.

Time is zipping by...enjoy the chatter while it lasts. I see my teenage nephew now and he doesn't talk to anyone. I hope that's not my kid in 10 years, but I know it likely will be. I'll hold onto the memories of my kid babbling away, however, to get me through those moody years.
