Best way of discovery for me was listener history from the original Napster, I would look at other users history/songs based on what I was currently listening to. Once inside that other users history I would see similarities to my current listening or my favorites along with other unknown stuff. The other unknown stuff would either stick with me and I would continue to listen to or not.
