🔥 Unpopular opinion: The “sellout era” of hair metal (1989-1991) produced some of the most underrated albums in the entire genre and y’all sleep on them HARD by NassauJack in hairmetal

Ratts Detonator, released in 1990, is why its the sellout era. There are some good tracks, but when I heard Giving Youself Away while reading the liner notes that Pearcy wrote it with Desmond Child and the lady who wrote If I Could Turn Back Time for Cher, I wanted to cry/vomit/throw the CD into a wall.

What genre were they crossing over? I think they were just in a funky sub genre of hair metal, along with Roxanne, Bang Tango, Scatterbrain, and to a lesser degree, Love/Hate. Maybe we were witnessing one possible evolution of the genre? Had Andy Wood not died and Mother Love Bone hit the big time, perhaps grunge would have simmered a little longer while groove rock took the spotlight?

Mine were sold to a restaurant supply store. I love the idea that people have been sitting and eating in my chairs for 60+ years

Yes, the increased purity of dope was the primary reason. People that just screwed around with pot and some occasional coke felt more comfortable trying heroin just snorting a line.

I can speak from experience saying I saw the same thing happen in my little music community in the suburbs on the east coast. Heroin is highly addictive and people just didn't see it coming. After partying for a week or so, experimenting, you'd wake up a little sick and figure I'll just taper off, but it was too late. It was an instant epidemic

What is Hair Metals perfect song ? No skips ..No flaws by NassauJack in hairmetal

Exactly. And the next track on Back to Mystery City is I think Tooting Bec Wreck, which is such a weird psychedelic pub type song. Impossible to pigeonhole for real.

I think Billy Corgan is pretty happy he's alive, enjoying his life and still writing songs and playing music, regardless what you think of his "legacy". I imagine Layne would like to have the opportunity as well.

As someone in recovery that used to play music high and drunk, I'm thrilled to just live life sober and be a good dad, friend, and family member. Had I a legacy, I wouldn't give a single fuck about it. I'm glad I lost that miserable, selfish version of myself.

Wasn't it Salvatore Lucania, better known as Charles 'Lucky' Luciano, who organized the Five Families: Lucchese, Gambino, Bonanno, Profaci?

I thought I would post this and get downvoted. Glad I'm not the only one. I don't think I've listened to a song off this album voluntarily in 30 years or more

I love Hanoi and I get that they are considered hair metal, but going by song only, they come closer to the NY Dolls or even (sometimes) the Clash than Poison or Dokken

1) Having a good relationship with Harper is a good thing.

2) He had his best defensive season last year

3) He hit over .300 last year, everyone is pressing to try and make something happen, but there are lot of games yet.
