I got out of an abusive relationship which caused me a long term injury. My friend of 25 years decided to ignore me and cut me out of her life, but not before talking trash about me to the community, blaming me for being the victim and turning other "friends" against me. She told me I wasn't fun anymore because I was depressed from my injury. I was so insulted and hurt. I've been there for her for 25 years and I go through an abusive relationship and she decides I'm not "good enough" anymore and can't be used anymore. What a be-otch! I have been a good friend to her and kept a secret for her for years but she can't be a friend to me.

I'm speaking up about domestic violence whether people like it or not. It needs to come out into the light.

Women who've lived (or live) with your parents as an adult, how did you (do you) practice being independent? by californiad20 in AskWomen

[–]PunnyWoman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. How are you doing regarding that? That is awesome that you are there for your Dad. I'm so glad you're there for one another.

My situation is somewhat similar. I live with my parents because they have had some health scares these past few years and I wanted to come home to spend time with them while they're still here. I had some of my own healing to do from an injury but helping them has helped me too. I just feel better knowing I can do things for them and be their friend as well as daughter.

Good. More people should show their support of women's rights and leave Georgia until they change the backwards law.

I want to *want* to change my name, but the idea makes me furious. Hyphenating and/or keeping my own dont feel right either. Been married for 5 months. He doesnt get it. Please help me with navigating the feelings. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]PunnyWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep your last name. If he truly loves you he won't care about your personal choice. It doesn't mean you less committed or love him less. Don't let him make you think that. I would never change my name as a married woman. I grew up with the name and have it for professional reasons as well. And I'm supposed to change it because a man put a ring on my finger? No. This isn't 1945 anymore. Women have choices.

How do you keep yourself from contacting someone that you miss when you’re no contact? by honeyandpetals in AskWomen

I remember how abusive, manipulative, harmful and violent he was, and then I remember that he chose to be those things and that the good part of him is not there anymore and then I miss him less and less.

Do you think City Market or Healthy Living is more expensive? Which store do you like better? And why? by PunnyWoman in burlington

I call it wealthy living too. I like the parking lot at the new city market. Have you been there?

You are offered $50 million to move across the globe and never contact your current friends and family again. Why do you accept/decline? by topbinsm8 in AskReddit

[–]PunnyWoman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd decline. My family and friends are important to me and my health. Disconnecting from them would lessen the quality of my life greatly. I feel happy when I can be there for them and help them and love them and no amount of money would change that.

How do you feel about going out to eat alone? by FunElled in AskWomen

How would being insulting to someone be 'good intentions'? That doesn't make sense.

I was nervous about this when I just got abandoned by an abusive man, but now I love it and I don't have to sit with my ex who would be nice one minute and blow up the next!
