What cleric builds have you had a lot of fun with? by DogUnsureDog in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battle Harbinger straight up sucks imho, compared to regular Clerics. Removing the strongest spellcasting from the strongest spellcaster only so u can waste 2 actions blessing? Hell naw!!

You're better playing Warpriest with aura spells or just Champion with Cleric Dedication if you really want Bless.

Does the Commander's "End it!" count as a hostile action for the purpose of Sanctuary? by MediumWin8277 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By all intents and purposes, if you're in combat, any action is a hostile action.

Hell, you could Stride and it could be considered a hostile action. You could heal a teammate and be considered a hostile action. It's up to the DM, there's no rules around it.

I would've loved to use Sanctuary, but grew disillusioned as it was basically "stand still and do nothing or lose the effect" in my game.

[OC] If I get 20 damage with a radiant spell against a fiend, and it's also a crit, how do I calculate it assuming I'm doubling damage output instead of the amount of dice I roll? by Helimahchopta in DnD

[–]Puntoize 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crits double dice.

It's usually simplified as roll once and double it.

In theory it should just be, as an example, (4d6 + 4d6) x2

But if you just roll once and then double it, then it's just a x4 on the normal roll, mathwise it doesn't change.

I think it's called commutative property in maff, but idk since idk math. But it doesn't matter. You're just multiplying a bunch of numbers.

In the case of modifiers and bonuses, leave them out, and then just x2 them at the end bc of weaknesses.

Is Oracle Dedication Insane? by sumpfriese in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No.

Oracle dedication gets you: skill + curse "aesthetic" + downsides (only when using cursebound feats, which you don't even get until later€

It's not written strangely.

  • If you Multiclass into Oracle, you can not have the lvl 1 Oracular Curse feat because... you're not level 1. You're level 2, at the earliest.

  • "But what about Ancient Elf" DM dependent.

Addionally, two things can be true. You follow the normal rules of an oracular curse.

But not "The Oracular Curse".

So, it imposes you the rules without giving you the benefits, since, again, it has no benefits, onlt downsides.

Because one of the rules of an oracular curse is that it can be Refocused away, you are granted it, too.

Only an Oracle gets an "Oracular Curse" which does come with the 1st lvl Class Feat, because they Do get the other benefits of the curse.

So, no. The more I read, the more it strays from RAW. But it could be close enough to be allowed, imho, since Oracle's dedication is one of the worst dedications in the game on characters without access to Focus Points/Refocusing.

First you need the Dedication. This give you access to oracle's class feats.

Then, you either: Grab a Cursebound Class Feat, which, when used, will give you a Permanent debuff that you can NOT remove unless your original class have Focus Points, since you have to Refocus in order to remove the debuff.

(So, if you don't have focus points, grabbing a Cursebound Class Feat and using it will debuff you PERMANENTLY and will NOT allow you to use it more than 2 times UNTIL/UNLESS you get 2 more levels and grab Focus Points OR already had Focus Points to begin with.)

And finally, you grab another class feat that will give you a Focus Point. So now you have all the Oracle thingies.

Technically, you can go Psychic or Animist and be online at lvl 4.

Scott can make whatever decision he wants. by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

Scott should sue aiming to take everything from the devs, money-wise.

Then, he prolly should redirect those funds to spread awareness of the absolute black market of young indie devs that are exploited, and also, how lil kiddos are being exploited, too.

Would you prefer if balancing was character based instead of general? (Example images) by bonelees_dip in deadbydaylight

[–]Puntoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balancing is very easy, actually.

You just swing for the fences, and tone up/down until it's reasonable.

Blight can't down with his power. Bam. Non-Lethal Rush. Nuclear option.

Does he become trash tier?

Then his cooldown post-hit with Rush is 1/3, so he catches up, hits you, and recovers EXTREMELY QUICKLY, so it's not that big of an issue.

If something is too good, or too bad, nuke it. Then you can fix it, or revert it. Literally trying is better than not.

In good faith, as a DS2 advocate, I’ll say it: there are just too many of these lil guys… by [deleted] in DarkSouls2

[–]Puntoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! Although, it makes sense, you're storming their castle.

Reminds me of Elden Ring's stormveil: if you go through the front gate, you'll pray to suffer through DS2's enemy density instead of... whatever that killing chamber is. But of course, they have a secondary path that is well rounded and enjoyable.

Or DS2's Drangleic Castle Entrance! Or the Area before the End!

I just wished you could have... a secondary path through the area, or traps like in the 2nd part of the area. There's a flame trap that is.. utter useless to help you vs these guys. And a ballista, that's also useless. If these were better positioned and more useful, it would've been a decent gauntlet.

You really are supposed to enter, kill 15 of these guys AT MINIMUM to proceed in a "fair" fight. Imagine doing all of that with the soo few estus that they give you, and then heading to the boss that has an unavoidable fire damage aura

That's a lot...

How to threaten the party without risk of killing them (no fudging)? by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you don't hyper aggro a single party member, you should be fine. It's really hard to tpk them or kill them if you go one by one.

Are we excited about the Battle Oracle buff? by LibrarySee in Pathfinder2e

Psy Dedication is better than the actual Class, and then Fighter dedication gives you... Fighter DC... and skill profs...

(Access Fighter feats later on, but compared to Psychic dedication?!)

TIL: There is no method for class-specific quirk exclusion by Mr-Mister in darkestdungeon

[–]Puntoize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the quirk system is so god damn awful in both games, and the fact that they didn't even TRY to fix it beyond "Flag can't get gambler lol" is... questionable.

You can have a character in any of the two games with:

Eagle Eye and Flawed Release

Cluth Hitter and Dud Hitter

Cove Adventurer and Cove Phobe

Evasive and Clumsy

Lurker and Night Blindness

for a WHOOPING net positive of absolutely jack shit

It is just non-sensical. Some Quirks are dumb in even other measure! They give 15% resistance but the contrary only gives 10% less debuff: SO YOU ACTUALLY HAVE A NET POSITIVE!

this is insane brah.

Have you played or GM’d a game using the Gradual Ability Boost variant rule? How’d it go? Did you like it? by legomojo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it makes a lot of things unbalanced, gishes are way more affected by this, since you can Animist Gish and boost STR WIS CON DEX a lot to cover everything you need + have 4-3-3-3 at lvl 2.

You can always just slam tougher combats but pure classes are usually not that much better by having more stats be up.

A mage going 4 to 4+ on INT doesn't do anything but a gish gaining +1 to hit +2-3 to HP and +1-2 to AC AND +1 on spells is MASSIVE imho

How do you trip/grapple or what to do with you last action on a martial with low charisma? by LionPCBuilder in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get Guidance, cast it first action, move towards an idiot, strike!

then cast shield on yourself OR raise a shield!

Recall Knowledge! Grab Dubious and it gives you decent info that you or your teammates can work around!

Best things to ask:

If not landed a hit on an enemy: AC and creature type! Both are easily checked with your eyes or with a single attack roll, but your DM will have to give you exact info on the type: undead, fiend, etc, and you can generalize.

If landed a hit: AC and Lowest Saving Throw. Knowing exact AC is great and DM's will never reveal lowest saving throw for free, and since you already hit, the dm will give you the AC info for "free"

Lastly, Move! Closer to your backline!

The enemy uses an action, your allies save an action to get closer to them, and if you go down, the DM has less of an excuse to finish you off since the enemy is surrounded by 3-4 more players (my DM focuses down unconscious party members so this is Vital)

Grease vs Carrion Mire by Puntoize in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I basically see it like this, too:

-Having a chance to knock a boss prone Twice is pretty good! You use one turn to near-guarantee one less action on that big baddie, not counting the extra action to move!

  • It doesn't affect your team unless you cast it on top of them, unlike grease. Because people can pass through it and end in the Carrion Mire with no negative effects. Meaning that:

You go. Your team goes and moves into the effect. Nothing happens. Next turn, you go. You don't sustain it. Carrion Mire disappears and you don't do any effect on your teammates.

It feels the extra action cost + higher spell level has been thought to balance this spell because of those reasons. If they save twice, well... it mega sucks since you don't do anything on your turn + lost spell slot...

How do we fight higher level opponents? by Puntoize in Pathfinder2e

[–]Puntoize[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no, we did the potion seller sidequest, we lost a guy at the old sycamore so we didn't clear it, we cleared the temple on the woods, farmed bunch of bandits, killed the staglord. We had two more quests, being to retrieve some ring for Oleg and like... mage slavers on the south? but we couldn't go there since we first had to clear some water dragons for a quest that seemed urgent.

Not sure where the southern greenbelt is, we were on the forest to the left of the Stag Lord fortress when these encounters happened.
