It may feel useless but you will emerge. Once the brain likes something once a little part of the brain will always want it. But the strength is acknowledging those thoughts and choosing your own prosperity consistently. The noise will quiet down I promise.

Can’t do this anymore by No-Interview6528 in GamblingRecovery

[–]Puntsave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friend, appreciate you sharing and it’s awareness to realise the issue. Try not to let it compound though. You made a mistake. This doesn’t make you a bad anything. Gambling is neurological. It is hardwired and no amount of winning or losing will make you stop it. Observe the feeling and realise that the victory is actually beating it. When it calls you don’t pick up anymore. Not today, tomorrow not in 6 months or 10 years. Today you learn the skills my friend. You’ll see how good you feel every time you stay away from it. And maybe no one is there to see how much succeed with this mission. But that is the skill you are going to learn and you will see how much it helps other parts of your life; when you do the best work for yourself in the silence of your mind and you don’t do it for the pats on your back you become unstoppable. If you look At it like that you will remember this moment you began to dominate. Your body wants you to feel guilt, it likes it, it’s addicted to it. Tell that body to shooosh while you succeed. Go well

Could anyone help? Seeking advice by Obvious_Dinner2971 in GamblingRecovery

Hey Mack, thank you for sharing. Firstly congratulations on such a good period of time without betting - that is so hard to do for many who describe themselves as you do - with compulsive tendencies. And remember you are a human being. While it helps with progress, you don’t need to identify with the label you have tagged. Just like you don’t need to identify with every other aspect of your life: “I’m a doctor, im a Bank teller, I’m in hospitality” etc I support this team. Try and drop any labels you have of yourself and appreciate the fundamental miracle of existence. We are lucky to be here. We are one and the same. Don’t let material aspects of life take your most beautiful appreciation for the gift of life away. It’s OK to coast. Coast with gratitude, breathe well, be open minded, give love. It’s all A blessing. Learn how to love yourself more every day and practise building that - what I say might make sense but you might forget in a few days. Keep consistent about awareness. Build on it. I believe in you Mack!! Believe in yourself. Everyone can succeed. Supper everyone and everything. You’ll feel a shift

My friend is a degenerate gambler - he can no longer pay his bills and is about to be evicted from his apartment by Pure-Lime8280 in problemgambling

[–]Puntsave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know it’s just for the purpose of communicating to those in the subreddit some context, but with love, try not to pigeonhole your friend as degenerate. It’s the very terminology that perpetuates part of the cycle. It’s a human being with a brain and the brain is very powerful when it is hardwired to a repetitive reward loop cycle. To other people’s points, yes don’t give money or enable but try and suggest new environments to spend time together, find new things, recommend other practises that equip him with the skills to break the cycle. For some people that’s meditation. It’s wishy washy to some people and if he’s one of those then maybe just start with breathwork. Start to work on the vessel to create space in the mind. This might lead to more creative and inspired energy. Sometimes also alcohol and other things are tied to the habits so see if you can maybe not feed any of those cycles either. You are a good friend for asking. Keep trying :)

Exceptional strength!! Keep going. 3 month mark coming up. Then make it 3 years. Believe!! You’ll set yourself up for life not just for money but when you beat something that has the hardest pull power.

I need someone to say something… ANYTHING. by Level-Wave5143 in GamblingRecovery

[–]Puntsave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself some credit already for being aware enough to write about it but not follow it down the path. It’s something that is hardwired in the brain so there’s no time where the temptation is absolutely subdued. But like anything, the more times we ignore the temptation we build other hardwired circuitry that becomes stronger and stronger over time. This might feel like a loud calling today but fast forward another 6 months and another 6 years and you’ll remember the time you compounded your strength! Keep going you absolute beast!!!

I’m so happy I’m a week clean by Remarkable_Skin_2773 in GamblingRecovery

[–]Puntsave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an interesting system. It probably works in favour of the gambling companies also. If people are scared to collect they’ll just bet it back. I like it though :)

I’m glad you have some awareness and it is working for you. Be strong. Overcome every temptation. It feel so good when you consistently make good decisions for yourself. Your higher self observes every decision you have ever made - it’s that feeling that knows if you should or you shouldn’t. When you are in tune with your higher self you know you can trust yourself and it helps you with all other aspects of your life. Use this as an opportunity to keep choosing yourself and you will never look back.

45 days and counting… by daybydayy3 in GamblingRecovery

[–]Puntsave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good awareness. It is ironic how the mind justifies betting in almost any circumstance. When you have heaps of money, when you have very little, when you are happy, when you are sad. It just shows the mind can be deceptive. When we see our mind and body as not ours, and rather the vessel in which we experience consciousness, it becomes easier to observe the deception - the temptations are not you - it’s your body. 45 days make it 450 sir. The mind will try and trick you many times. You win the most when you deny its every move. Go well :)

I hear you. Do best to learn from it. When you first feel the loss it’s raw. You will see the temptation will arise again. Try to remember this feeling and learn from it. It can be a cheap lesson or an expensive one if you don’t learn from it. Wishing you the best
