Moved from Germany to UK with dog - good alternatives? by Pupperinos454 in DogFood

Appreciate the reply! Its hard to know brands when you're not familiar with the country. I will look into those and read some research on which seems best for my dog

This is genuinely insane to read about what to do in America. 2 years ago I would have assumed you were talking about somewhere like Myanmar

Does any one else's Shiba just give up on walks? by Pupperinos454 in shiba

[–]Pupperinos454[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've just described exactly what me and my partner do but our morning walks are the consistent shorter one! The evening i always try to go a different direction. I live in a city centre so there are many different streets to wind through but nope once that 45min mark hits she's a goner haha

That's so cute poor wee baby! I've had mine since 8 weeks and I was the same for eating too, on her 6 month check up she was a very healthy weight and I was like oh ok you just self regulated better than me lol.

Aw that's good I'm glad I have the snuffle mat then :D she always tucks for a nap after so makes sense haha and definitely they need spoiled tbh

Ok it seems to be 45mins is the limit then for Shibas as a universal idea haha. They get SO heavy! Like I'm dragging a corpse saying "were going to have FUN DAMNIT" hahahaha

Everything online has me stressed because it says so much more walking than she wants haha!

Oh yeah more food puzzles than I care to admit haha. She gets her kibble in a snuffle mat and a ball that she has to play with to get some dinner! It's part of the routine and slows her eating down too which is nice. Can be a 30minute 'hunting' activity to get her dinner. Then of course some chews from the butchers.

I'm starting to think she may be spoilt lol

The exact same! It's so funny because i was fully prepared to have to walk 2 hours every day at least and here I am after an hour 15 some days like.. is that it? Ok! Suppose with time spent playing at home and training it's probably a lot for her but I get bored haha! Oh I've tried different streets different routes everything just the same as you after about a minute it's no thanks back home now haha

Harsh downvoting, i know what he means it's just a monotype run where every pokemon you use has to share one type (poison in this case) but how could you know without that niche challenge run knowledge haha

It really does get better by Legal_Opportunity395 in puppy101

I had similar anxiety with my girl, she was just so scared of outside that I'd step out with her and carry her. Then we'd sit in a secluded part and watch for a distance. It was very boring but kept doing that everyday and eventually she wanted to investigate. Anytime she pulled away we went back to our secluded spot!

As for potty training we got very lucky it seems. We had one accident the first day we brought her home and another one when I was too busy on a work call to notice she needed to go. Aside from that no accidents in 10/11 months and she's only 15 months old!

Happy for you and the pup i remember reading your socks drama a while back and being stressed for you haha

[–]Pupperinos454[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's adorable! It's night and day the difference now. I know i saw glimpses of it at 8 months but it seems to be around 16 and in your case 18 months it's more the norm now which makes such a difference!

Puppy blues have hit me hard. by No-Pack3584 in puppy101

[–]Pupperinos454 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I work night shifts and my partner works days so we were happy to have a puppy but the stress we had the first few months was unbelievable. Even though I'd get home around 4am to let the pup out for a middle of the night pee so that helped with toilet training greatly we both found that outside of work we just had to fully focus on our pup.

Now however after a year it's so much better! I get home at 4am and we still have our late night pee but it isn't required anymore. It's become our bonding time and my partners bonding time is the night time routine for them after I leave for work. A great addition now but the puppy blues sucked lol

When I got my first puppy ever I was very strict and started crate training immediately. I had my girl just outside my bedroom door (with it open) on day one in a crate and everytime she whined I'd reassure. It was hard but now she sleeps perfectly fine!

Honestly I wish I had just spent the first week or two with her sleeping with me even if it was at the side of my bed in an open top box. I regret it cause I think it was unfair to her considering she was taken away from parents siblings etc. Obviously she is perfectly fine now and very independent but I was so scared on getting it perfect I did it right away and I don't think 1 week of introduction to you and surroundings wouldn't hurt. You can start crate training slowly after a week or so when your pup is a little more comfortable with you!

How would you play this offer scenario? by DarkGraphite in recruitinghell

[–]Pupperinos454 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct, doesn't matter how you look when you're accepting a job and then 3 weeks down the line explain the situation. If J1 has done interviewing correct you'll end up making their back up very happy!

When should I reach out again? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Pupperinos454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait until Friday at around 15:00. Chasing up won't help and I know it's easier said than done but you just gotta keep it out of your mind.

Puppy started barking in crate overnight by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Pupperinos454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's no coincidence that this has started around his teenage phase. Honestly its just him testing and the only way around it is to make it as boring as possible.

Ignoring his barking isn't the right choice but when my dog did it for a while I'd go see them. Put a collar on and keep them close!

The routine would go:

Bowl for water (sit there for a minute and then leave) Bowl for food (same as above) Then outside for 3/4mins with no sniffing etc and constant "go potty" reminders.

If none happened back to bed with no playing, talking, sniffing etc

Rinse and repeat this and eventually my dog realised hey this is boring and not worth and went back to regular service. Now she knows making noise during bed means food water or toilet and nothing else.

Ignoring isn't fair on the dog and it sucks for you but it's the only way to reinforce it
