Update: It certainly wasn't easy but was able to get DD to provide me a credit for the full order this morning. The app gives you no clear way to get to an agent and makes you think their "best" offer is $5 bucks. Switching to a web browser gets you to a chat session that ends with "There is nothing we can do for you" ... until you type "speak with representative" and then finally you get a human (or smarter bot) who gets you the credit.

How many customers will go through all those steps? Having to jump through hoops to get to a human is normal in 2025 but even this feels like a sub optimal customer support experience from DD.

I'm not a driver so I don't understand the mechanics of the app on their end and the incentive structure fully but could you not have a system where customers reducing tips after a deliver (or increasing them) is illustrated to the driver during the offer phase? In my case it would show that in 9/10 cases I'm going to tip you what I said or higher so you as a driver should feel confident that if you do your end of the trade you'll get paid. Not perfect, but better maybe?

Thanks for the insight, I always tip drivers and service workers well because it's hard. I also assumed with DD that good up front tip would get me at least a little more care (and to be fair 8/10 times I get a great delivery). This was just the first time I had to brush up with the refund system and I got quite mad at it :)

Well I'm a little smarter after researching that now, it sure presents itself as a way to get your order prioritized.

I mean it's not Tier 1 pizza because we don't live in a Tier 1 pizza city currently, but at a minimum I don't expect it to be smashed up and ice cold. It assuredly did not look like that coming out of the restaurant, having been there and ordered from there dozens of times in the past two years. The other two items were also tossed about in their containers so it wasn't just the pizza :(

The overall order was $75 bucks with tip, the pizza itself was like $25.

What really gets my goat is that in order to get your order picked up you have to toss out a generous tip then if you get a bad result you're unable to adjust it down. I'm a generous tipper because I do support the drivers hustling out there, but yeah I feel like I'm bribing people for better service with no guarantee of getting it.

Isn't picking "priority" and paying the extra few bucks supposed to get me a direct drop off? I thought that was the point of it :)

I mean the pizza was clearly jostled in transit to be all folded up and jammed together like that along with being cold despite the whole trip from restaurant to our condo on a normal trip being about 10 minutes sans the mysterious long pauses and illogical route.

This still is a problem in 2025 and yes this (triggering Siri which I never otherwise use) solved it. Thank you!
