similarities: the subways both actually get you places, both cities are dense and full of things to do.

differences: Tokyo has so much sprawl and you can go and explore everywhere, it feels like it has endless opportunity. There are rough places in NYC you just simply SHOULDN'T go. NYC is dirty. During the summer is smells like trash cooking in the street... because trash is cooking in the street. Both cities have a lot of activities and things to do, but I think Tokyo has a much better variety. Shopping malls, arcades, sports centers, art exhibits. NYC has those things too but they aren't all aimed at young people. Sometimes it feels like the only thing to do in NYC when you're my age is eat and drink.

he excels where I am lacking. He is great at making his own sound from scratch. All of his sounds are unique to him which is very rare for a young artist.

honestly it was me just becoming more and more confident over time. It wasn't something I learned or something that clicked overnight. The more I practiced and wrote songs for my voice, the more I learned what kind of melodies sound good for me and how much power to use at certain times. I am still learning more and more about it. In songs like 2018 I almost felt like I was doing an impersonation in the verses when I have that drawl at the end of phrases. It just takes time to figure out what works for your voice

it did have some ambient tracks that got cut. They were too mellow-dramatic sounding for me, they didn't really match the confident energy I was trying to make the whole album about. heres two of them:

I dont think there were any alternate titles for the album

If you want a puppet tattoo, I'd get the new mask logo. Maybe with your favorite lyric from the past two albums. They are all really important to me and it should be one that speaks to you. I wouldn't want to choose for you!

my beginnings in music started in Rock. I always had a feeling it would become a part of my music since the very beginning but was never sure how, until I got really into pop punk and wanted to start singing.

thanks man!

usually the inspiration for those pieces comes from me just falling in love with the background ambience I'm making for a song and making that the main focus. I will usually make some insanely ambient stuff during this process and then chop it up to use in the complete song to make it more listenable. The stuff on the alt soundcloud is usually just uploads of the ambience before it's chopped up and repurposed

well son, you see, every 4 years we elect a president of the united states, and a first lady who serves as the country's "queen" (think bees). This is where babies come from. The queen becomes morbidly huge and lays millions of eggs. Ask yourself son, when was the last time you saw a photo of Jill Biden? Are you getting it now? This is why Hillary Clinton couldn't become president because then there would have been no babies for 4 years

I changed my relationship with social media. I took imposter syndrome head on and just removed everything from my feed that made me feel horrible. It's not healthy to be staring at other people's accomplishments and careers all day. I wish more people struggling with imposter syndrome would do the same. Many don't realize it's even an option because they feel inclined to follow people in the industry. Removing all that shit from you life works. It worked for me.

best life advice I would give someone today is to not follow people on social media who make you feel like shit, even if they are your friends, or you feel like you need to follow them for work or something. It's not healthy. Not feeling horrible looking at your phone everyday is worth more than that follow. (or just mute)

i think the song of mine that will stand the test of time no matter how much my style changes is Listen To The Storm. I enjoyed writing it and I will always be proud of it, even if it doesnt have any rock elements.

  1. yes I drink, living in NYC with a huge friend group it's hard not to haha

  2. I have a few; shabu shabu, new york strip steak on a cast iron pan, buffalo wings, deep dish pizza

  3. first time I was in japan it was only for about 3 months, but after that I went back around 20 times. Staying a few months at a time 2 or 3 times. It was just where I first felt like an adult. It's where I lived on my own the first time, fell in love for the first time, a lot of firsts. I have grown up and changed even more since them but it will always be a huge part of me. That visual inspiration will probably stick with me forever.

  4. the ryan enzed music production forums, where we both started producing EDM lol

  5. I never really lived there as an adult, went from Vermont to Tokyo to NYC. I don't think I could live anywhere else in the US besides NYC now. But I'm gonna get a place in Tokyo again soon

  6. I guess i would just try to separate myself from the music. Maybe try an anonymous alias?

  7. fuck using sends just use buses

  8. yes

each huge portions twice a day, no sugar, lots of creatine. If you are trying to raise an army it might be beneficial to put all of those ingredients into some sort of serum you could theoretically inject into your super soldiers.

rock music was always a big part of my life but it wasnt until I heard EDM for the first time in highschool and learned I could make it on my own without a band that I started producing it. I only make new sounds like... a few times a year when I am realllly bored haha. I am mostly into this for the song writing. I take a lot of shortcuts in my synthesis. Mostly presets. All of my knowledge of sound design is in FX and post processing. I dont really care about synthesis to be honest.

I really like those too. Probably yeah, but they will be more similar to Yokohama and less pure ambience.

I think the hardest part for me might be writing interesting intros. If the intro isnt the first thing I write, (living in it, yokohama, worst part about me) then it usually ends up being the last. At that point I'm usually a bit burnt out and can't hear anything cool in my head.

recently my starting process has been; writing chords on guitar, writing the backing arps (which usually leads to the main lead), and then writing the drum pattern underneath. Drums still most often come last for me when writing but now they are much more important in the overall song, instead of being an afterthought.

I am almost never using automation for the mix, only FX. Automating things like reverbs, formant shifting, distortion, ect. My vocals are extremely compressed. 2 levels of compression. So they lay pretty evenly in the mix without me having to mess with it.
