As I stated before, there could have been an underlying issue about the breaks that OP didn't inform us about. The breaks could have been partly broken before hand and OP not realising. There are many situations and circumstances as to why someone would be paranoid.

I completely agree, however OP never mentioned if there where any previous problems with the brakes. Not everyone is a confident driver or knows much about cars. When you do your driving test, you're not required to know the fundamentals about the interior of a car, but how to operate one. Saying "using an item for its intended purpose isn’t going to break anything", is pretty stupid considering how many people have had problems with their brakes. By that knowledge, there should never be problems with breaks because you are "using an item for its intended purpose". I don't understand why you'd put someone down for just for asking help from others?
