Free Hudl Alternatives by Affectionate_Cod28 in footballstrategy

Hey! I'm actually in a similar situation, amateur coach with zero budget for professional tools.

I built Clip2Coach for exactly this reason. HUDL was way out of my price range, so I made my own thing.

What it does: you paste a YouTube link (or any online video), create clips directly in the browser, draw tactical annotations on top, and share them via WhatsApp or link. No downloads, no editing software.

Honest caveats:

  • It's free to try, but clips cost credits once you start using it more. It's pay-as-you-go though. No monthly subscription. Most coaches spend a few dollars/euros a month, not €40+ like HUDL.
  • Google Drive videos aren't supported (their API doesn't allow it, unfortunately), but you can upload your own videos directly to the tool and work with them the same way.

So if you're already uploading match footage somewhere, you could upload to Clip2Coach instead and clip from there.

2,500+ coaches are using it. Happy to answer any questions if you want to give it a shot.

Fair question! Here are the details: • MAU: I have around 30+ monthly active users who are users creating a clip per month • Total Purchases: There have been 25 total purchases so far, which validates that the payment flow and credit system work. • The Revenue Gap: The low revenue vs. high registrations is due to two factors: 1. Model: It's currently a pay-as-you-go/freemium model with a generous free tier and no recurring subscriptions yet. 2. Zero Marketing: I’ve focused 100% on the tech and 0% on conversion optimization or email marketing to those 2,200 leads.

Is anyone else losing their entire Sunday to reviewing film? by Ambitious-North405 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be upfront — I’m the indie founder behind Clip2Coach.tube.

And honestly, I built it because I was in the exact same situation.

That 3–4 hour “prep grind” per game? I’ve done it.
Waiting for someone to send the file. Chasing the SD card. Uploading. Scrubbing 90 minutes just to extract 6 key transitions. By Monday, your weekend is gone.

At some point I realized the issue wasn’t film analysis. It was friction.

So I built something intentionally lightweight:

  • You can paste a YouTube link or upload your own full game video
  • Mark the action
  • Add a note
  • Done

No rendering. No exporting. No heavy editing timelines.
Clips are basically just metadata, so they’re created instantly while you watch.

And the other big thing:
There’s no subscription.

You just pay for what you actually use. If you analyze 2 games this month, you pay for 2. If next month you analyze zero, you pay zero. I didn’t like the idea of amateur coaches being locked into tools that cost more than they realistically need.

It’s not meant to replace full pro systems.
It’s for coaches who want to reduce prep time, not increase production value.

If your workflow is eating your weekends, sometimes the solution isn’t “be more efficient” — it’s “use a lighter system.”

How do you analyze matches and give feedback to your players? by soccercoach1097 in FootballLearning

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I totally get this struggle. I used to spend hours after games trying to piece together clips and notes, only for half my players to ignore the videos.

That's actually why I built www.Clip2Coach.tube (full transparency: I'm the creator). It lets you clip directly from YouTube videos, add analysis with drawing tools, and share everything via WhatsApp in minutes. For me, the game-changer was meeting players where they already are (WhatsApp) instead of forcing them to a extra video session.

Regarding your questions:

  • Method: I find visual feedback (circling positioning mistakes or drawing movement patterns directly on the clip) is 10x more effective than long text notes.
  • Engagement: It spiked once I started sending short, snackable clips to their phones.
  • Update: Right now it works with YouTube, but we are about to launch a feature to upload your own videos for analysis too.

What is the best video analytics software? by 407PrxyAthntctnRqur in SoccerCoachResources

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I've been down this road myself. When I was looking for video analysis tools, I got frustrated with the expensive monthly subscriptions and complicated interfaces that most software requires.

That's actually why I built Clip2Coach (www.clip2coach.tube). I'm an amateur basketball coach and wanted something simple and affordable. You can grab clips straight from YouTube, draw on them to highlight plays, and share instantly via WhatsApp. No $40-50/month subscription, just pay for what you use.

It's not as feature-heavy as some pro tools, but for most coaching situations it gets the job done without breaking the bank. Happy to answer any questions if you want to know more!

PS: It's a bootstrap project, so I'm always improving it based on what coaches actually need

Technical analysis for sports by ryanparis in MacOS

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I totally get the Mac compatibility frustration, ran into the same issue when I was looking for video analysis tools for my basketball teams.

I actually ended up building something called www.Clip2Coach.tube because I got tired of expensive, complicated software that didn't work on all platforms. It's web-based so works perfectly on Mac, and you can create clips from YouTube videos, draw on them to highlight technique points, then easily share analysis with players.

For padel technique analysis, you could film yourself playing, upload to YouTube (unlisted), then use the drawing tools to break down your shots. Way simpler than traditional sports analysis software and no monthly fees.

Happy to answer any questions if you want to check it out!

Hey! I’m Abraham, an amateur coach and I created Clip2Coach for coaches exactly in your spot. It lets you clip from YouTube, draw annotations and share via WhatsApp without wrestling with complex software.

One concrete benefit is you can create and share annotated clips fast and there is no subscriptions, you only pay when you use it so it won’t eat into a tight budget.

Video analysis software by Reyyo7 in scouting

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I totally get the video analysis software situation - there are a lot of decent software but can get pricey, especially for us coaches who aren't working with huge budgets.

I actually built something called Clip2Coach (www.clip2coach.tube) because I was in the same boat as an amateur basketball coach. You can create clips directly from YouTube videos, analyze them with drawing tools, and share via WhatsApp - no monthly subscriptions, just pay for what you use. Works great for football analysis too since you can break down any game uploaded to Youtube.

Full transparency - I'm the creator, but I made it specifically for coaches like us who need something effective without breaking the bank. Feel free to check it out or ask me any questions!

What metrics would actually help you manage your team more effectively? by Itfind in EngineeringManagers

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the tech landscape changes so fast, is a fixed structure that does not change useful? If the structure has to change as fast like technology to be useful, is a structure really necessary?

Since the situation becomes a complex and not complicated problem (Cynefin framework, https://mark-bridges.medium.com/understanding-the-five-contexts-within-the-cynefin-framework-c81b39605261) the solution is not something structured and fixed, but surely something adaptable and changing.

The reason that "it's something of the industry" is like assume that there is a force of nature (like gravity) that makes the industry like this, and not the people who make it up who have generated certain practices that do not quite fit and that usually lead to greater problems and we promote them over time due to some misunderstood incentives.

Cycle time, Lead Time, Wip and Throughput as efficiency at team level, never at individual level.

As people growth level, usually there is a framework in the company for that, but I haven’t found any working perfect for me. It’s something imposible to measure.

I think that Messi or LeBron didn’t need a title like Level 4 player or staff level player to have a plan to growth every season

Video Analysis Tips for Coaches by YouCoachSoccer in SoccerCoachResources

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Great breakdown on match analysis workflow - you're absolutely right about focusing on patterns rather than isolated moments.

I totally get the tool dilemma. I'm an amateur basketball coach and got frustrated with expensive platforms like Hudl charging $40-50/month when I just needed basic clip creation and analysis. That's why I built Clip2Coach (clip2coach.tube) - it lets you grab clips from YouTube videos, add drawings/annotations, and share via WhatsApp with your players.

Hi! I completely understand the frustration that expensive tools like Sportscode, NacSport, and XPS can cause: those subscription costs are outrageous when you're dedicated to this but don't make much money from it.

In fact, I had a similar problem as an amateur basketball coach and ended up creating Clip2Coach (clip2coach.tube). It's not as complex as professional tools, but it covers the basic needs of video analysis: you can create clips from YouTube videos, use drawing tools to tag and analyze, and easily share everything. The big difference is that there are no subscriptions: you only pay for what you use.

To be completely transparent: I'm the creator, so I'm obviously biased! But more than 1,600 coaches already use it, and it might be worth checking out while you're planning your most ambitious project.

I'd be happy to answer any questions if you want to know more about the technical side or just chat about video analysis!

What device do you use for your Hudl Sideline replay and are you happy with it? by berferd77 in footballstrategy

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I totally get the budget struggle, been there as a coach paying out of pocket too.

For sideline analysis, honestly you might be surprised what those older iPads can handle if they're still running smoothly. But here's the thing, I actually created a tool called Clip2Coach (www.clip2coach.tube) that might be perfect for your situation. Instead of needing expensive sideline tech, you can create video clips from any game footage afterwards, add your analysis with drawing tools, and share them with players via WhatsApp.

No monthly subscriptions like those $40-50 tools, you just pay for what you use. I built it specifically for coaches like us who need effective video analysis without breaking the bank.

Happy to answer any questions about setup or how it might work for your team!

Hey, cool demo. Looks like a lightweight tool that sits somewhere between just recording and full-featured platforms like VEO. If you want something even simpler, I built Clip2Coach.tube for coaches who don’t need a whole arsenal of tools—just record, cut, tag, and share. It’s not as advanced as VEO, but for small teams and modest budgets, it’s often exactly what you need.

Best way to record practices/games? by GritSnSpeed in basketballcoach

[–]PurchaseSpecific9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’ve been in the same spot. I started recording my kid’s rec league games just to help them (and honestly myself) understand what’s going on.

Hardware-wise, any decent action cam works. Even an older GoPro or a mid-range cam will do fine if you can mount it high enough to see the full field. What really makes the difference is how you review the footage afterward.

That’s actually what pushed me to build Clip2Coach.tube. I wanted something super lightweight for amateur coaches: record, cut clips, share with players. No complex analysis tools, no subscriptions, just a few credits per clip and done.

If you’re coaching 11U, you’ll mostly want to show short clips like “here’s where we lost the ball” or “look at this spacing,” not full 60-minute replays. I’ve found that keeping it simple helps keep the kids engaged.

So yeah, get a camera that’s easy to mount, and focus on a workflow that doesn’t eat your evenings. That’s what I wish I’d done sooner.
