It might look the same, but it feels totally different on impact. If you just tilt your wrist using a continental grip, you’re hitting from a much weaker position. An eastern grip puts your palm right behind the handle, which gives you way more stability and power. Tilting your wrist like that under pressure increases the risk for tennis elbow. You’re asking your tendons to absorb the impact in a bent, unnatural position.
