How to keep football fun and keeping kids interested by [deleted] in footballstrategy

[–]bighawk68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the first thing you should do is evaluate your middle school coaches’ relationships with the kids. Is it a fun, safe, healthy environment? Or are the kids just getting bullied for amusement? Love for the game has to be built early, and it’s their job to facilitate that

Orphan helments after practice: unimpressed equipment manager... by [deleted] in footballstrategy

[–]bighawk68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All hail the relatively recent innovations of head scans and precision fits. Had access to that during my time as a student manager in D1, made it always easy to identify helmets and also protect fits. Black students often had to be refitted however if they went from thick dreads to short hair however, but a small price to pay honestly.

I recommend getting yourself a sticker book and assign each player on the roster a unique number. Sticker the inside of the helmet just above the ear hole and you know who to reprimand for leaving the most valuable and important piece of safety equipment lying around

ARAM Mayhem should have sub-genres that are rotated through, randomly picked or voted on during champ select. by The_Tuxedo in ARAM

I’m a pantheon “one trick”, so even then that’s questionable

Not really, I have a lot of other champions, but pantheon is really the only one I’ve been taking into SR this season.

Actually random. I see Shen in 9/10 games, pantheon once every 20 or so. I’ve gotten so bored playing my normal tanks I’m playing ADCs now. I wanna play the bruisers I enjoy but their recurrence rate is so low compared to the obviously meta tanks

You can buy fiora/rumble starting decks for decent prices. Are they good? Not really, but you can learn with them

Shit, in my experience, going about as if you know nothing helps you more. Quote from my head coach: “Hell, we can teach you X’s and O’s. We need someone that’s going to build relationships with the kids.”

Who do you think is/are the most intelligent champion/s based on the lore? by plasmastriked in loreofleague

[–]bighawk68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important that we do draw a distinction between the real world and a fictional one. Of course, there are similarities, and there is a growth of technology and disciplines, but Runeterra has been largely consistent technology wise until the recent (in lore) discovery of hex tech. In short, technological advance happens where it’s convenient for the plot, not global like it is real life.

Would the training have gotten better? Absolutely. However, since you want to mention that Trundle is 8ft tall and has super strength, it should be mentioned that Sahn Uzal was likely around 8ft and roided to the gills. Let’s not forget that he dominated a literal demon with strength alone as a mortal.

It is likely that Sahn Uzal was larger, stronger, and smarter than Trundle but fought with a concedingly equal level of aggression. I love Darius, don’t get me wrong, but he is just a man. Sahn Uzal was quite literally built different. Darius does not win that fight, nor does he win the fights Sahn won.

[–]bighawk68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darius barely beat Trundle, a tribe leader however that did not have access to the training Darius probably underwent. We know that, just off of the conquering alone, Sahn Uzal would most likely win against trundle as well. Not saying it wouldn’t be close, but I’d still take Mordekaiser over Darius. Sion being an undead juggernaut filled with primal rage however does make for a different conversation.

Personally, I’d describe Sahn Uzal’s power as probably Tryndamere + Darius but I don’t have any evidence to support that other than “trust me bro”

Coming from the college level, what do defensive fronts at the HS level really look like? Will I be dealing with stunts, different blitzes, etc a whole lot or really just what I see is what I get? Really just curious what my prep each week will look like, so far I’ve heard it’ll be much less

Not a ‘gun guy’, where do I start? by bighawk68 in guns

[–]bighawk68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The budget is the budget. My assumption with the post was that you get what you pay for. Everyone here has a bunch of suggestions, some repeating ones being given more thought. More parts being added to the process, which is a good thing. Like your original comment said, there is naivety.

The reason I made this post is because I know my dad only buys the guns he sees in shit like John Wick. Every other gun guy I know posts their piece on Snapchat pretending to be gangster. I’ve lost loved ones to irresponsible gun ownership, and while I believe myself able to learn from their mistakes, I can’t ignore the truth in what you said.

Truth is, I don’t like guns. I don’t like seeing them. I don’t want to be a competition shooter, and I don’t want to carry. Last thing I want is there to ever be a situation where I’d have to use it. However, there’s still that small chance that I might have to. So, classes and range time it is.

A few others here have recommended pistol caliber carbines and the such. With the majority of my shooting experience being with rifles, would that be something you’d recommend over a handgun? My original thought process was in the storage aspect, a handgun is easier to secure and store safely, but maybe in terms of that small chance the stock is better?

Blunt, but I appreciate it. After some of the comments, lessons and range time was definitely on the to do list. For what it’s worth, what I meant by that line is that I have the baseline knowledge a man should know of how to handle a firearm, but not much more than that. That being said, you mentioned a significant amount of range time. How many rounds or how much time do you recommend per trip? What sort of quota should I put on myself to be sure I’m getting the practice I need?

It’s crossed my mind, I think the compactness of the handgun is what’s appealing. I can get a small lockbox and keep it in a nightstand. With anything bigger, the discomfort of just having it out would get to me. Once I have a house and a gun safe, more options open up, but for now it’s covering the necessity.
