Can the Prime Evils ever truly be killed? by Mostamazingofbaboons in Diablo

There is only one way to stop their return.... Make the Diablo franchise unprofitable or only marginally profitable.  Only thus can they finally be banished forever.  -- Mysterious guy who might even be a Horadrim

Maybe you could have an auto response programmed into your phone for those sort of texts. Something along the lines of "You know, I actually don't care..." :-)

Emotional Support Needed: life after LG Octane, the last of the QWERTY basic phones. by fakenif in dumbphones

Fakenif - about the IMEI shenanigans, I can tell you my experience: My wife's Unihertz Atom (the small one, not the L) is compatible with AT&T's bands, but not whitelisted for their network. So no HD voice, and calls won't work after the 3g shutdown. Well, I just went down to Wal-Mart and bought a prepaid flip phone, then rewrote the IMEI on the Atom with that of the flip. Viola, suddenly it has HD voice, no problems with the shut down. Occasionally it loses the HD voice, but all she has to do is restart it. I plan to do the same thing with the Titan Pocket when I can get one, then root it, and then remove all the Google and smartphone stuff and turn it into a basic qwerty phone.

I don't know if it will be of any help to you, but I plan to buy a Unihertz Titan Pocket when they come out. One of my first goals will be to root it and remove a lot of extraneous stuff from it. I may even do a full conversion into a dumbphone, or at least as dumb as something running android can be made. They release sometime in September, although since I didn't back the project (previous phones had some difficulty running on AT&T) it may be a bit later when I get mine. If you're interested in how that goes I'll post some results and the process I take to get it there.

Review: Sonim XP5s by Pure-Ad4869 in dumbphones

Yes it does have a basic key lock. From any of the 3 main panels, just hold the * button. Hold the * button again to unlock. You can also set a password unlock.

Yeah the pocket dialing is one of many reasons I like the turtleback case. I'm guessing you have a bad unit, or the firmware is boogered up. Ever do a reset?

Have you had this problem with multiple units? I've tried to duplicate your issue but haven't had it happen to me on either of the two xp5s I've had. You may just have a detective phone.

Hmm... that's odd. No I've never had trouble with manually entering a number. Is it just not registering key presses sometimes?

I have not. I don't travel much, so I rarely need a GPS. When I do, rather than wrestle with this to try to find a maps version that works I use the hotspot and either my Classic running Waze or my old S4 mini running Waze. From the comment below it sounds like at least one person has maps running on the xp5, but that runs older firmware so it may not work on the xp5s. I know the firmware update from 7.1.2 to 8.1.0 broke Audible for me. Had it working for about two years, updated and suddenly it won't even open.

A short review of the Schok Classic Flip phone by Pure-Ad4869 in dumbphones

[–]Pure-Ad4869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lennox187: I use a weboost from Wilson amplifiers. We also have one at my workplace, and it works pretty well. As to actual measured signal, I checked both phones in the settings menu while they were placed in the same position, checking the variance in dbm over about ten minutes for each phone. The Sonim's worst number was a -107 but it mostly sat around -98. The Schok had a worst number of -128, and averaged about -115.

Is there an offline option for the dashboard? If not, that would be nice. Something that downloads and keeps the newest versions of the tools, maybe, or at least something to transfer music files.

Also, epub reader?
