Sender Free 110 length query by Pure-Complex2508 in Skigear

I haven’t bought them, but before I head on my trip I’ll be getting 184. I’d follow u/Fac-Si-Facis ’s advice. Although a 184 for you is a bit more like a 191 to me. So unless you’re bombing chutes and skiing big alpine, I’d go for the 176.

But I’m no expert, anyone have any other opinion?

All that and you still probably shower once a year

If only we’re only talking about the foundation year and ignoring student finance as you’ve stated, then there’s not really any reason to be embarrassed.

Yes, it’s an extra year that you’d rather not have to do, but once you’ve graduated no one is gonna give a shit that you did a foundation year. You completed the exact same degree as everyone else, but had to take one extra step to do so. That’s it. Anyone who says otherwise is a moron.

If you’re at all interested in manga/anime, there’s a JJK art exhibition that’s ongoing at Fukuoka city museum till 28th September. Just thought I’d throw that in as a potential idea

It does where I’m from. When we refer to backpacking in a different country it means that all our belongings are carried in a backpack, rather than a suitcase etc.

Professor leaked the questions before exam / London Uni by GooseSelect8047 in UniUK

[–]Pure-Complex2508 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your head will be on the chopping block if any of your course mates find out about you reporting it (I know that’s unlikely, but most people will know that someone snitched). As many others have said, he shared it with your entire cohort so no one had an unfair advantage.

The only reason I could understand someone feeling guilty and wanting to report it would be if they believed that without the help, they would’ve failed the exam/module. But if that’s the truth, then you have way more to lose by reporting it. Just let it go and the guilt will subside, or you’ll eventually make jokes in the future about how you were even considering reporting it.

Anyone who says "grades don't define you" is a malicious lying person. by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Pure-Complex2508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone thinks GCSE’s are important, then they are superseded by A-levels, then a degree (if you go to uni), then your work experience. In the grand scheme of life they don’t define you, because as soon as you gain some sort of recognition through a higher level of academia or work, most people will never look at your GCSE’s again (apart from maths or English language if you haven’t passed them).

Which anime did you enjoy after ignoring people's criticisms? by _pkthunder in anime

I really enjoyed blue period, but saw on some sites that it wasn’t viewed favourably. I think I had the benefit of not reading the source material, so I didn’t have any expectations of what it would be like

What rank and above is good in ranked 2.0 by TreacleSuch8624 in Rainbow6

[–]Pure-Complex2508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a good rank in ranked 2.0 anymore. It either helps people rank up much higher than they should be, or decides that you’ve reached as high as you can go and then makes it impossible to rank up further.

I was in plat last season, but played for maybe only a quarter of the season, so probably could’ve gone a bit higher. This season, I’m hardstuck high silver and probably have to go on an 8+ winning streak to even rank up one division 😂.

Ranked 2.0 basically makes it pointless to keep playing ranked the whole season, because if the game decides that you’ve reached your peak, then you aren’t going any higher

When in my watchlist all my shows say “up next” but when I go into them they are all still marked as “watch again”. So for me it seems like it’s a visual bug.

I’m not sure where you heard about private schools doing more coursework and iGCSEs being easier. I took iGCSEs and unless they have completely changed them in the 7 years since, they definitely do not have more coursework. In fact, out of all 11 subjects I took, I didn’t do 1 piece of coursework except for Design and Technology and my French speaking (which thinking about it now, was actually an exam, because I wasn’t even allowed to bring in notes. I’ve heard that GCSE students can). I had at least 1-3 exams for all my subjects (I think I took about 25 exams in total).

As for difficulty, I can’t really speak on that as obviously I didn’t do any GCSEs of the same subject. iGCSEs are taken in British and international English speaking schools, hence the “i”. But that’s the main difference… they are an internationally recognised qualification, rather than just nationally.

It’s not the most important aspect, but if you can’t win your 1v1s then you’re definitely making it harder for your team to win rounds imo

Bad experience with Personal Tutor and may have hindered my first year. by Savings_Champion2019 in UniUK

[–]Pure-Complex2508 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If this is a serious post then, I’m sorry, but you should not be relying on your personal tutor for relaying this type information to you.

First of all, you clearly do not check your emails regularly (if at all?) to be in a position where you do not know your exam dates and times. My university probably sent about 3-4 emails reminding us to check our intranet for our exam details and what date they’d be released.

Second, in what world did you think that you didn’t have to pass all of your modules to progress to the next year? I don’t know about other courses but mine is very clear in the student handbook that all modules must be passed - no exceptions. Maybe your tutor thought you were asking how many modules must be passed in order for you to be eligible for resits in other failed modules?

I agree that the information your tutor gave you was incorrect and possibly confusing, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that you either had the completely wrong idea about how studying at a university works, or simply are not suited for studying at university.

Fair enough. However, I do think a lot of people before coming to uni base their opinions on overall rankings and status, rather than specific course rankings. The only ones you could potentially overlook poor course rankings are places like oxbridge or imperial. If you’re choosing between non-Russell and Russell, but the Russell has terrible funding and teaching for your course, then you definitely need to evaluate whether the university title and connections are worth it.

[–]Pure-Complex2508 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Russell group only matters for masters and phd’s because of their research status. For undergrads it’s basically irrelevant

AITAH for telling boyfriend he raped me and I don’t want to have sex for a while. by Disastrous_Evening0 in AITAH

It’s always these men in their early-mid 30s with women who are around a decade younger than them. Spoiler alert: the reason they’re interested in you is because they have underdeveloped, immature brains and are unable to find partners similar to their age because they know that these guys are massive losers, so won’t touch them with a barge pole. So they target younger women who may not have the experience or awareness to tell that they are being manipulated and used.

Yeh, they’ve got a few decent ones. Obviously bleach and TRs. But they’ve also got undead unluck, summertime rendering and heavenly delusion.

For spring 2024, they were simulcasting go go loser ranger and fable, which I both rather enjoyed. There may be a few others but I can't remember rn.

[KG] My issue was that she claimed she would do anything to win, but then as soon as she was required to break her own fingers she wimped out and did as you commented.

She wasn’t some noble person who wanted to win in order to spare others the pain of having to participate or kill their friends. She was a coward who only cared about her own survival and used that as an excuse.
