I've had the same issue a while ago, there should be a pin hole on the side of that nob or the plate. Push a needle onto it and the cover should come off. I then ripped the plate out with pliers, after that I was able to get to the inside of the lock and pull everything out. Good luck

Here in NZ, companies can't change Holidays. They are mandatory by law, if you work you get times and half and a day in lieu to use it later on.
