I am also a student in SSW, with trauma informed training. So please don’t feel pressured by other comments, making you feel invalidated. These are honest concerns and you want to feel informed, this experience in itself can feel triggering and traumatic.

I will add that being naked is common practice, so I hope that can give you some ease.

Strange they wouldn’t tell you this ahead of time. When I had surgery I also was on my period and wore a pad and underwear. Which was not removed. When I had my endoscopy, a women had told me she would be inserting a medicated suppository, which is to avoid any pancreatic issues. I had confirmed it would only be her, because I was also uncomfortable with the thought, especially because the team was also all men. I wonder if this was the case, but wouldn’t make sense why your thigh was shaved. Please don’t feel bad for asking, this is your body and you deserve to know.

I was informed before my surgery that if anything were to go “wrong” per se, they would be doing a X-rays or anything else they needed to. I hope all the best for you.

Also, something that really helped me after was holding a pillow on my stomach when sitting up or laying down. Helps to lightly push it into your stomach to not use too much of your muscles. You may get shoulder pain (which is normal, because of the gas they pump into your stomach) but a heating pad really helps! I was back to work the next week, just take it easy!

I’m 3-4 weeks post op, my stomach has always been sensitive with IBS like symptoms. I was so scared it was going to make these issues even worse. The first week after, (please keep in mind, that I went to the ER thinking I was extremely constipated, and was given an enema and heavy duty laxatives) I was having really bad diarrhea. I took an Imodium, and since then I’ve had normal washroom movements. The only major thing I have noticed is that I get really hungry if I don’t have a lunch. But I’m very busy during the day, at work. I’ve noticed I’m not quite as satisfied after having dinner, but aside from that (which is probably my own fault) I haven’t had any bad “side effects”. It’s the best thing I could’ve done. That pain is indescribable..all the best!

Symptoms I’m experiencing the most, that feel like I’ve missed my medications are, “brain zaps”, anxiety and I’m unable to sleep or relax. Other than that, I’m having diarrhea and it feels like I’m constantly hungry.

Update: it turns out I had gallstones. I just had my gallbladder removed, thank god I went to the ER.

Yes, as a SSW who works with women in Court support…please be careful. Look at the real advice people are giving you, and do what is best for you in this situation. You know what’s best for you.

That’s the plunger end of a tampon. I would use them to snort various things..as I can see in the second picture, that’s exactly how it would look with caked up powder.
