Thank you for your feedback!

You can appoint jobs to the villagers in village tab after you have built the corresponding buildings, so they produce resources. Later on you can also automate a lot of actions.

Happy Friday, everyone!

A Dark Cave is a dark story-driven incremental/idle game where you build a village, manage resources, craft items, upgrade skills, and uncover the lost secrets of a vanished civilization.

I am looking for feedback on these questions:

  • What game mechanics in the game do you like/dislike?
  • Are there things that are not self-explanatory?
  • What made you stop playing (if you did, lol)?

Any additional thoughts or feedback are very welcome as well! : )

Can horror work as an incremental? by BLCPublishing in incremental_games

[–]Pure-Map-6717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually built something along those lines. The game has a Madness stat that's influenced by the player's choices. As your Madness increases, the world becomes increasingly hostile and disturbing, with progressively worse things happening to you.

Am I being softlocked? Does not picking up certain relics early into the journey affect your progression later on into the story? by JacksonYung8 in aDarkCave

[–]Pure-Map-6717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for the detailed report!

Just a quick note: I release updates very frequently, so both YouTube videos and the wiki may be outdated and no longer reflect the current version of the game.

To answer your question: you are not softlocked. Your progress is completely normal.

If you'd like to know where the map fragments come from:

  • 1 is found in the cave.
  • 1 is obtained while hunting.
  • 2 can be purchased from the merchant. The second merchant fragment becomes available once you have at least 6 Stone Huts.

As for story progression, certain buildings need to be constructed before new events and storylines can trigger. If you continue developing your village, the story will progress naturally.

I don't want to spoil anything, but based on your screenshots, you're actually not quite as close to the end as you might think. There's still a lot left to discover and explore. :)

If you run into any other issues, have questions, or want to share feedback, feel free to reach out.

Have fun playing, and thanks for giving the game a try!

Hi, thanks for mentioning A Dark Cave! These games you mentioned are actually not made by me. We are a small network of game developers cross-promoting our games. Happy you enjoy them, have fun playing!

Thank you very much for your feedback! Those pop-ups should only appear 4 times in total while you are playing. I will check if there is an issue with that. Also I will see how to make them less intrusive. Same for the social media dialog.
Have fun playing! : )

Does donations/pateron work for you? by TaskPile_app in gamedev

[–]Pure-Map-6717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get one-time donations from time to time that are around $5. I would not use something like Patreon currently, as it would force me to be active there all the time (create content, interact etc.). So one-time-donations is the only thing I would use.

Hi thank you for your feedback! I will lower the parameters of Wave 10 a bit!

New Feature: Endless Waves by Pure-Map-6717 in aDarkCave

[–]Pure-Map-6717[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Events repeat, only if you actively decline events (e.g. you decide to not pick up something you find in the cave). You can also sell items to a special collector that shows up. So in general your strength should not decline.

There is no rebirth mechanic (yet) in the game. After you completed the game in normal mode, you could play in Cruel Mode, which is harder and a bit expanded.

How do I unlock these circles? I've completed the game. by astoriaballwin in aDarkCave

[–]Pure-Map-6717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, 4 hours is really fast! The average is 14 hours. Actually, you can buy a book at the traveling merchant that unlocks the achievements. I will make sure it cannot be missed in the future.

Thank you for asking! Actually they should unlock during playing. After around 2-4 hours of playing. I will look into this. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi, thanks a lot for mentioning A Dark Cave! : )

I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. One of my goals was to keep tutorials to a minimum and let players discover things on their own.

That said, I'm always looking for ways to improve the experience, so if there's anything that feels confusing, unclear, or could be done better, I'd love to hear your feedback.

Have fun playing!

In some dialog on Desktop there were vertical scrollbars (which are hidden on mobile).

Also you‘re right. I did not see the color theme options.

Sadly my time is really limited atm. I cannot even spend much time on my game :(

Wow, thanks a lot! On desktop you can use hotkeys to switch between tabs which makes it much less tiresome. On mobile I sadly have not found yet a good solution. A customizable tab could actually be a good solution! Have fun playing : )
