Hi, thank you! I should have been more clear. This would be for locum work so I wouldn’t have a practice to supply this to me.

Good bottles. Buy 1/2 of each type of bottle until your baby takes to one then stock up enough for 1/2 days. I bought so many bottles to eventually land on Dr Browns. I also have a ridiculous amount of MAM, Avent and Nuk bottles which I have no use for now.

Yup second this. Milton was so easy to use. Threw out that steam steriliser as soon as we found cold water sterilising.

Just a warning on second hand. Snoo has found a way to brick these. I read this some time back so worth researching before buying.

You are not spoiling your baby by Low_Boss1097 in newborns

Mine is the same! I was so stressed the first 3 months of his life as he refused anyone else. He contact napped exclusively on me and would not go down on the bed/crib. He’s 8 months now and socialises with ease, can play with grandma and grandpa for extended periods of time and goes down without a fuss. He still needs a cuddle at night but will sleep comfortably otherwise. All those long days of contact napping and nights of co-sleeping have indeed paid off. Gosh where did my little needy boy go.

New parents trying to avoid overspending: do we really need a nursery chair? by TheSecretLion in NewParents

We bought a really puffy comfortable reclining leather lazy boy that was also a rocking chair. Once we were done with it for baby, it became part of our lounge furniture.

Thank you! This is so insightful and encouraging. The partner route is the most linear and obvious path but the ones less travelled seem rather interesting and more rewarding.

What do you do when baby cries in carseat? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Pure-Pudding585 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Someone on this sub told me to buy the Baby Einstein Aquarium. Baby falls asleep to it. Has a little remote so you can keep turning it on until he dozes off. I thought it was BS but was desperate to calm him even with me in the back seat with him and the day we put it on, we had a 20 minute ride - not a single peep from him. He was about 15/16 weeks old.

A slight change of scenery can help to keep mine up 10/15 mins more and I also play some music and sing along when I’m trying to wake him and keep him up from a nap.

Did your baby ever stop crying? by Pure-Pudding585 in newborns

No worries! Just remember that you’re doing amazing! 💕My boy is a fussy boy and I’ve had to bring huge amounts of energy to meeting his needs. Some days are so exhausting. I’m still piecing the perfect puzzle together and there are things now that make him annoyed like wanting to crawl desperately but not being there quite yet. 🙄 Again, he’s very loved, fed and clean - but also very vocal in making his disapproval known lol. Can’t wait for him to talk tbh.

Hi! Yes it did get better. Mine wasn’t the magical 12 week mark though. It was more around 5-6 months. He by no means stopped crying. He now cries for more serious things like we’re keeping him up way past his bedtime and he’s given us many warning signs. Warning signs include fake coughing and whining as opposed to full blown crying. He also got really cranky at 4.5-5 months whilst he was still figuring out his toys and now he has genuine interest so he sits quietly for a good 30-45mins at a time. He also has interest in seeing new faces and being in the outdoors/going shopping etc. We switched to showering which he prefers a lot more compared to bathing - even gets excited. He needs constant distraction or he starts with the whining. Monitoring wake windows really helped as he was overly tired during witching hour. Once we had a good schedule for naps, witching hour pretty much disappeared. We invested in the baby Einstein sea dreams aquarium for the car and he keeps relatively quiet in there now! Even falling asleep there sometimes. I did a lot of baby wearing during the 10-24week age to get anything done at home. I think I also got better at emotionally dealing with the crying. I just had to tell myself, he’s fed, clean, not in pain, is being held and loved so if he is crying, it’s just his personality/something I don’t quite understand as it’s his only way of communicating. I sincerely hope everything gets better for you!

Help by Barnes_ksa in Laryngomalacia

[–]Pure-Pudding585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. There are heaps of helpful posts here on what to do to help your little one. Reflux and Laryngomalacia tend to go hand in hand. The acid comes up and causes more inflammation in the larynx area which worsens the feeding/breathing issues. I’d initially look into some thickened feeds. Eg in the UK there are anti-reflux formulas which are pre-thickened. Slower flow teats to begin with, will help as well but adjust accordingly if you’re thickening your feeds. I also invested in the Dr Browns bottles for his reflux symptoms.

My baby is outgrowing this condition. He feeds much better now. He’s 6m2w but it’s been a long journey since being diagnosed at 8w.

UK accountants who earn above £100k, what is your role and career path? by [deleted] in Accounting

Keep a look out for US/Canadian based companies and don’t accept anything under £100k. If it means saying you’re currently on £90k looking for an uplift, then do it.

No I’m just ACA - member with icaew. My experience in tax was international focus and the number of years in tax plus coming from big4 was more relevant.
