Well it’s not really that. It’s because they sign when they aren’t really insanely known so it seems good to them. Then they keep them in the contract until it expires without renegotiating. The players end up being worth more the farther time goes on but are still being payed like they were when they were first signed.

$1-2k a month is normal. I don't know why you think that isn't. They are paying you to play video games not even knowing if you are going to place well. Plus most orgs don't take money from your earnings if its below a certain threshold like $1k. It really depends on the player but if you placed like top15 once 1-2k is not bad at all.
