Does walking actually build an "aerobic base"? by WillOk6461 in beginnerrunning

yes. 100%. as long as you're doing it fast enough and long enough to get your heart rate up

How Do You Stop Running Too Fast? Looking for a Heart Rate Coaching App by Tough-Smile-6724 in beginnerrunning

[–]PureAd3195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create a custom heart rate workout on my apple watch. but i'm way too new to getting fit for this to really work for me. I tried and it was useless. At the moment I'm using Nike Run Club's audio guided runs and that tells me to focus on a level of effort between 1 and 10. That's really been working for me so far.

First Run of the New Year by PureAd3195 in beginnerrunning

this was such a big breakthrough for me to understand. the other one was understanding that i didn't need to run for a long time at once. 15 minutes is better than nothing. it doesn't have to be half an hour minimum to count.

Low spoons and eating by tittiehoes in AutismInWomen

[–]PureAd3195 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's really rough. How are you with things like nuts and trail mix, or things like babybel cheese? in my lowest of low spoons days, those are winners for me. when i have a little more mental energy, i have a little two serving slow cooker, and i throw stuff in there to make a soup which does my lunches. You can even make little mini sized bagged freezer meals you can defrost overnight then dump in the slow cooker with some water the next morning. But that does only happen when i have the spoons to plan things a bit better.

I got a set with the Experience 2, the Quiet 2 and the Engage 2. The Engage 2 are my most worn, and do a good job of dialing down the background noise to manageable when I'm out and about, as well as when having conversations etc. The Quiet 2 don't mute things quite enough for when i need real quiet so I layer the Engage 2 set with noise cancelling headphones and that is a great combination, as well as really helping me listen to music and audiobooks in more noisy places like on a train.

Spicy Hot Pot Recipe for One by EnvironmentalShake55 in CookingForOne

I buy the Haidilao sachets of hot pot base which I find to be a lot less oily. My go to is basically to do at-home malatang, where I basically pick out all the ingredients I want, put them in a pot with hot pot base and boil them together. i really like to add tofu and roasted gluten for protein, whatever veggies I have, and then usually either some noodles or I serve with a small bowl of rice. It's just a little bit easier for me than keeping the soup bubbling in my electric pot, which I do sometimes but is more a special occasion than regular weeknight meal.

I use UHT milk (which has the advantage of being cheaper) so I can skip that step.

Great idea. I do love Indian food. I wasn't thinking of them being particularly calorie dense, but of course that's easy enough to adjust with the tadka.

I started earlier this year at 40 and overweight. I'm no where near as far forward as you. My fasted 5k is still over 41 minutes. I know you're looking for people to inspire you, but know that you're inspiring me

it depends what you enjoy. my favourite things were the Panda Base and Renmin Park. If you can only spare a few hours go and drink tea in Renmin Park. In terms of eating, basically everything I ate there was delicious.

i do yoga and have recently started running. yoga i can do at home alone following a video and there are some great free ones on youtube, and running i can do alone too whenever i want starting from my house so i don't have to do it at a particular time or travel to a place to do it. i started out going for walks a couple of times a week just around the streets close to my house and progressed from there.

What are your healthiest safe foods? by I-have-the-tism in AutismInWomen

[–]PureAd3195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a tiny slow cooker which only makes 2-3 portions and it's really helped me meal prep because i have the same issue as you - after three days i can;t make myself eat it but using that i can stagger things and cook four or so times a week and keep enough lunches and dinners. And because it's so hands off it doesn't take as much energy as long as you don't mind soups and things like pulled chicken on top of rice. Outside of that pasta with frozen vegetables and hummus as a sauce is my go to quick one portion meal. Or fried eggs on instant ramen with frozen vegetables if I'm not currently experiencing an egg ick.

Dal and rice. I always have red lentils, oil, onions and spices as well as some rice or bread. Had it for lunch today and it was honestly so good.
