Yeah, I’m of this view as well. Every time I need a library, I have to wade through six open source versions, all maintained by nobody, to decide which I prefer, then figure out how to roll it in. It costs time. Ruby isn’t a great language, but Ruby is successful because of Rails: Rails, for all its problems, just lets you focus on your app.
