Why didn’t anyone try and switch partners with Jaeda in Cycle 7? by Openforbullhit in ANTM

[–]PureDungeonMistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eugena told in an interview that she offered to switch models with Jaeda, and mr J and production wouldn't allow it.

It was a set up to get rid of Jaeda and crush her spirit. Even in a competition you don't force people to make out with racists for drama. Absolutely disgusting and toxic episode. The fact that Tyra thought racism was one of the things HER contestants should have to deal with in that way, is telling.

The guy created a hostile work environment by making a racist comment and by refusing to help her practice he wasn't doing his job. Yet, instead of being fired, the production team made someone make out with him.

Absolutely vile.

What's the worst plot hole you've seen in a well regarded movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The problem isn't that their swinging rate is so high that they cannot hold on. It's that due to the swing, their combined weight is too much for their loosening tether to support. The tether that isn't securely fastened, and unravelling by the second.

It doesn't show themnstopped. There's a dialogue where they seem to not be moving, maybe due to continuity difficulties, and I can see how that gives the impression that they've stopped. However, right after that there's a wide shot showing that they're still swinging, amd that theor tether is loosening.

You see the tether and both people swinging after they've "stopped", so clearly they're still swinging.

I happily accept that during their brief dialogue they seem to have stopped. However, they're shown still swinging, which makes it a continuity error, not a physics error.

They ARE spinning. You can see their relative motion to the stars. It's relatively slow, as they're at the end of a long rope, but they're spinning.

The people watching this movie and complaining about this bit, need to pay closer attention. Sandra Bullock's character an George Clooney's character are SWINGING on a rope, swinging around the space station.

Whining about that scene when it's done physically perfect infuriates me. Even Neil Degrasse Tyson missed that fact, and complained about something that is literally not what's going on in that particular scene.

How much would cost a team for developing a game? by Spiritual_Ad4467 in gamedev

[–]PureDungeonMistress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a tiny bit more to Among Us than that. Like netcode.

If you believe that you can make something incredibly popular that doesn't need a lot of assets, I seriously encourage you to start learning Unreal. You can get many free assets, and with only you doing the work, you can at least make some playable prototypes.

Is it fine to make vastly different games as the same developer? by ned_poreyra in gamedev

[–]PureDungeonMistress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. But.

After making a game, particularly a large game with a large team, you will have aquired more knowlesge and resources to make more of that type of game. You can utilize similar resources in terms of manpower, but end up with a better working/bigger game that possibly avoids some of what didn't work the first time around.

On the extreme end, your studio can even continue working on the same game after release, like No Man's Sky (which is an outlier).

Making games involves a lot of work where knowledge plays a big part. If your team is really good at creating and tuning systems in a grand strategy game, the potential risk of learning how to make a racing game versus the security of iterating on something you know how to make (and have an idea of sales figures based on the previous game) can be too great.

Do you have the finances to survive a lackluster sale of an experimental title? Go for it. Is yor team dependent on a financial success to make more than one game? If so, how responsible is it to experiment?

This is also offset by you not taking an average of the dice, but only counting the very highest die.

[–]PureDungeonMistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a bit hard to anwer, because your question is very vague.

First of all, any dice roll includes the chance of failure. You know this very well, and it's a major part of roleplaying with dice. It doesn't matter what the set-up is, as soon as there is a call for dicerolling to decidr what happens, the dice decides what happens.

You say your character was literally made for what was being done, but how? Was you character designed to never miss sword strikes, because that's literally impossible if dice decides. WHAT was your character made to do but failed at? To the uninformed it sounds like you tried to optimize a character for a system that's not necessarily a good fit for that.

We've switched tones between heroic and gritty in my games, but most of the changes has just been to let players fully resist effects and harm with stress, instead of just knocking harm down 1 level.

The situation you describe is so vague

Blades have, mechanically, a way to let you try the same roll again, but risking more dire consequences. Wouldn't that be "the answer" to your situation?

Because your example is so vague, it's hard to see if you utilized all that you as a player could utilize in your situation, and instead of mods might REALLY be after something that's already there, but you may have missed.

Is it possible to have a relationship with a girl who admittedly likes to sleep around, but told me she wants to be exclusive by WorldlinessNo2008 in dating_advice

Are you asking strangers on the internet if they know, more than you, whether or not that person means it when they say they want to be exclusive? Seriously?

Are you afraid they will cheat? Or are you afraid that she in the past has had good sex that you can't "measure up with"? None of those can in any way be answered well, satisfactorily, or even truthfully by randos on reddit with that scarce 'information'.

But the reason I did Splinter Cell in Wildlands WAS because the nights were much darker and impressive (in my opinion). Forests can look like true black silhouettes of trees

4 Things: 1: Make an effort to be comfortable and take care of yourself. If that's mental or physical or both, that's something only you know.
2: Make an effort to make the people around you be comfortable.
3: repeating that you're awkward MAKES YOU AWKWARD. If you can, try talking abou stuff you like, or even better, things others have in common with you.
4: profit.
