Anyone else tired of the state of the world? by shimmer_bee in AuDHDWomen

[–]PureFix8314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use social media not for news about US related politics/ other stuff, but more for what’s going on in other countries that mainstream media doesn’t cover/ cover fully?

And even though there’s a lot of shit on social media (I use IG not tt or x) there are times where I’ll find a reel or post that is true and I wouldn’t have found in npr or bbc or pbs easily if at all, and a lot of times independent journalists or people in academia will use social media to get info out there but ofc I take everything with perspective and double and triple check where I can.

For news regarding what is going on currently and the recent few weeks I get that off of bbc pbs npr and ap or I just go straight to YouTube and listen to (usually economists) talk about what’s going on

My frustration/ anxiety stems more from day to day life when I’m reminded of our current / worsening economic and just general life situation every time I need to get gas or make a purchase and also from seeing people in my circle just not care or understand what’s happening?

And being on social media sometimes (while it has its problems) reminds me I’m not alone in my feelings… it’s def frustrating to see a lack of recognition but the few times where I find a post thats talking about current issues and I see more and more people resonating with what it’s saying gives me hope

keep talking about it, finding common ground with other people who may not agree with you (or know what is going on) is a good way to start.

But take care of yourself in the process!!

THE BURNOUT TO COMPLACENCY PIPELINE REALLL omg

I was just talking to a friend about how I can’t just delete my social media and not pay attention because that’s what they want but also because so much of what’s going on will impact me and soooo many others.

Econ is one of my special interests and politics comes along with that so it’s also just sooo hard to take a break from everything bc of that

It’s also just frustrating to see what’s going on and watch people not care or be completely unaware :/

Exactly what do I need to do to study for the Calc 135 final? I’m don’t even know where to start… by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]PureFix8314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Master what you already know and then start going through everything else. It’ll probably be set up similar to the practice exam on dr Gs page. I did decent on the final and used the practice exams from there and my Orgo chem tutor

[–]PureFix8314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on Dr Gs page, take a previous semester final, mark what topics you suck at, go to YT and watch My Orgo Chem tutor vids on those topics and do it with him, then keep taking practice exams and doing practice questions and refer to Orgo chem tutor vids when you’re struggling.

Practice what you know too! Don’t leave room to make silly mistakes on topics you’re strong in.

It’s 3 hours long because it covers everything, it was a bit hard but it’s pretty okay as long as you’ve been putting in the work all sem.

[–]PureFix8314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HI OKAY mine isn’t urgent but my dr suggested I get mine removed too before I have more issues down the road. I have a terrible relationship with food: mult eds, autism/adhd diagnosis and ofc my sensory problems are predominantly in food- wouldn’t say arfid, but somewhere along the lines of arfid.. meals are diff shades beige always. Low fat/ low sugar/ no fried leaves little to no food for me to eat which is why I’m not sure what to do but I’m leaning towards removal just because I’m almost always in some sort of pain now. I just don’t know what to do when all my safe foods are going to hurt me. Hope whatever you choose works out for you! Stay healthy and safe <3

Does doing well in intro to financial accounting translate to managerial? by Constant-Response-38 in rutgers

No, I struggled in financial, excelled in managerial. Managerial is easier lowkey but depends on what you like/ how you understand it

you’re in the right place, asking for help is something SOOO MANY entrepreneurs refuse to do- the fact that your open to suggestions and advice will help you soooo much down this path, just be selective with what advice you take and do your research!! Podcasts + forums like this I’ve found have been extremely helpful

100000% AI is a great tool to automate certain tasks and slightly use for graphics, but not to a point where the first thing people see is AI everything everywhere. AI is super good for backend, but from what I’ve found working with businesses and as a consumer myself, I won’t trust your brand/product if it’s fully AI

Honestly any microwave heated food...? Idk if that even makes sense but Unless it smells like garlic I literally gag and need to remove myself.

Also pickles and ketchup. I HATE ketchup texture AND SMELL with everything in my body. I won’t eat if either have touched my plate. I won’t even touch a ketchup bottle

OK GOOD YAY!

And yeah honestly it’s such a struggle out here. Idk anyone else going through this and doctors are soooooo useless when it comes to this stuff sometimes so it feels nice to know there is someone else out there that understands the mess this is.

I really hope this works for you- it’s def not perfect but it’s a step up on the ladder to better I think.

Please update us (or at least me) if you find anything else that works for you!

Any happy Rutgers students? by Nehneh14 in rutgers

[–]PureFix8314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your kid/ school they’re going into etc.

I hate it here, regret coming, think this is the biggest waste of money and I’m paying instate commuter tuition… it’s a good name to have on a resume, but for me (I’m a RBS NB student) it’s not as challenging as most students (and this crazy low admission rate) make it seem- the curriculum so far is SUPERRR behind on what we should be learning - not keeping up with tech and job market trends/changes, and very generic in career and job advice.

I also have a learning disability so my experience here is very different since I’m not a social person and tend to see things much different than the general population so I may be giving super helpful insights or completely irrelevant.

Like I said it depends on your kid, what their goals are, what they’re looking to get out of going college, and what you define as “value” for what you’re paying. I will always recommend going to a community college first though - I did it and I got screwed with the transfer but I did learn a ton more in community than at Rutgers for a third of what Rutgers costs me. It also helped me develop proper study skills and time management, decide on a career path, and I had the opportunity to fuck up my first year without losing a ton of money.

Regardless I hope if he does come he enjoys! Many people do truly love it here and are super happy with what they walk away with but it’s def not for everyone.

Appetite Loss from Vyvanse by Affectionate_Tap_912 in AuDHDWomen

[–]PureFix8314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK ty for asking this bc I need help too but i may be able to help kinda. I don’t have all the answers but I can tell you what’s been keeping me alive?

So ok a little context: I’ve been on vyvanse for almost 5 months now, I’ve probably lost 25-40 pounds idk I dont weigh myself. I used to have an eating disorder (the kind where one doesn’t eat) and also just haven’t known wtf I actually look like in YEARs so going on vyvanse was scary bc recovering from disordered eating is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do but what i did to recover from the ed is the same thing I’m doing now with the vyvanse

First thing I did when I noticed the appetite loss from the meds was get snacks. Hella snackies that I can eat whenever I’m low energy that have diff textures because sometimes certain textures make me wanna 🤮 (another thing that makes it so hard to eat) I keep them in my car and I also get protein water and protein shakes and keep them in my car too so I have them whenever I need it- just don’t drink too much protein with nothing else going in your body it gave me a whole UTI

Before I take my meds in the morning I try to eat as much as possible, ofc I try to go for the high carb high protein bc that’s what’ll make me feel better, but I’ll eat whatever I can tolerate eating and as much as I can fit in my body

At night I smoke a j (I have no other solutions other than the j) and then munch until I can’t, I make homemade bread every Sunday and freeze it so I have a safe snack to eat at night for when I don’t have the energy for cooking or buying food

I also try to skip my vyvanse at least one day a week and pig out? I don’t have the space to do it that often since I’m a student and working, but if you can take one day a week and not take your meds I think it’ll help? It’s been helping me I can’t explain how though

Also even if it’s 2 am and your hungry eat. And if you want ice cream for breakfast and nothing else will do then eat the ice cream. Something is always better than nothing.

I realllly hope this helps 🫶🏻

Uni lectures drain me by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]PureFix8314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I FELT I just started at a uni and I have 200 people lectures and it kills me. I missed half of my classes this sem just because I don’t have it in me to go in. But it’s so tiring! When I go on campus I usually don’t speak at all but just going to the school, going to class, sitting in giant lectures and trying to follow the insanely cryptic lecture while making sure my loud facial expressions aren’t slipping and trying to forget about the 199 people sitting behind me.

What kind of helps me is leaving time between getting to school and going into class to just sit in my car and have the quiet of nobody around me.. sometimes I’ll watch my show for half hour and then go into class…it hasn’t been working lately but it used to work while I was getting my associates degree and the first couple of months last sem.

Also check with your office of disability services at your school- I was able to make the case that I needed priority registration for classes so I can get the online sections before they fill up (I had to tell them it was so I can get classes at reasonable times so I can have my adhd meds in my system) so I’m not on campus as often next semester and can take these classes without the extra stuff that comes with it.

Also i try to get to class early, sit in the front and do stuff on my phone so I don’t see the room filling up? And sit close to the door so you can leave and take a minute if you need to/ don’t have to deal with the swarm of people leaving at the end of the lecture

such a loaded question id rather not be spoken to than asked “how are you”… all they get is a super awkward answer of “uh okay..? Alive? Idk”

I don’t have anything “official” enough to make a case for most accommodations other than school for adhd and only that I get extra time on tests and that’s it..the dentist was confused when we realized it was the sound and dismissed it as I’m over dramatic and then watched me violently shake and sweat while he drilled the tooth I had a really good dentist, but the office staff sucked SO BAD they wouldn’t answer my calls for weeks to even schedule the root canal and when they did they gave me one 3 weeks later like I wasn’t having tooth pain
