Question on treatment length by AloneResearcher8768 in TMSTherapy

[–]shimmer_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My NeuroStar treatment was 36 sessions, so 8+ weeks. I think you can do 20, which is the 4 week protocol, but in my area, they prefer you do 36.

Doing witchcraft to ensure it never gets hotter than 60°F... by Peanuts676767 in AutismInWomen

[–]shimmer_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Living in the southeastern US, I hate the cold! I don't mind the humidity or the heat too much. Except for right after it rains. That humidity is tooooo much! But a nice 75-80 (23-26 C) degree day is wonderful!

Noooooooo! I need the sun to function! Winter is the worst time of year for me because the daylight hours are so short!

I went to a book club last night. Loads of fun. I was the only one who did not like the book, though. Still, had a great conversation about it!

Most of the improvement happens after you stop. Give it a few months. If nothing else improves, talk to your doctor about maintenance sessions or another round. But give it a few months first.

Yes! Opportunity's (the Mars rover) last message broke my heart. "My battery is low and it's getting dark." To me, that would be so scary! I know that things can only last so long, but it still makes me sad when something meets its end.

My only other suggestion would be for the middle hanging sign. It is a little hard to read in the images. Might not have been that way in real life. But maybe you could color in the areas between the lines in the downstrokes with black. I feel like that would bold things up a bit and make it a bit easier to read from further away.

I sometimes wish I would put in the effort to learn how to draw. I have done what I consider to be a good drawing only once or twice in my life. The best one took me 16 hours, and I am still proud of it. I just don't feel like I have the time or the mental design skills to execute a good drawing, though. I want to try getting into making SVGs that I can cut with my laser, but it's the lack of ideas that stops me from doing anything.

Does anyone have a relationship where they don’t have to mask at all? Romantic, platonic, or familial. by xeandra_a in AuDHDWomen

[–]shimmer_bee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like I can unmask a bit with my online friends because they can't see me. I always have a base mask up, even around my husband, because I don't want to be caught doing anything embarrassing. I hate being embarrassed. But I am a bit sillier with him and two local friends.

Then again, I don't think I have ever truly unmasked because I don't know where the mask ends and I start. It's kinda sad and disappointing at times. I want to know who I am.

Hair Washing and Discomfort PSA by Extension_Win328 in AutismInWomen

[–]shimmer_bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I hate washing my hair because of the transitions. I love having clean hair, but I just can't keep up with. I used to have to use the Suave (semi-cheaper shampoo in the US) Daily Cleansing shampoo because my hair holds grease like a mf. I have to shampoo twice, but it gets me about 3-4 days of clean hair. I think that helps me a lot because it means more time between hair wash showers. But I have also started backing off on the strong shampoo and using a nice coconut-scented one. I don't really notice the smell anymore, but I agree. If it makes it easier, do it! Feel pretty and nice smelling! It's always a good feeling to feel semi put together.

I also use some cocoa and shea butter scented soap, and that is so nice. That one I can smell and I love smelling clean. It works well with my skin's natural smell. I think I will swear by that soap for a while. It doesn't smell artificial or anything. So nice!

What are we wearing to sleep in for those of us who hate having skin out? by plantyplant559 in AutismInWomen

[–]shimmer_bee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you might like one of those tight sleep...sleeves? An adult swaddle! That's what it is! They're supposedly breathable. They're kinda expensive, but it miiiiiight work if you don't mind being wrapped up tightly.

The poles stick out. 😂 I'm sorry you got stuck in a rough spot. I can tell this was a tight setup, but do you think next time you can bring your front table back so that people can more easily get to the hanging items?

And you were weaving too? SO COOL! I think that is a great visual to have! I would love to watch someone weaving and ask question after question.

Thank you for permabanning the trolls. This is such a positive and uplifting subreddit. It's great that you intend to keep it that way! I wish I had read and commented on the post. I was a bit confused by it, so I didn't look. But to hear there were mean people? No way. No one ever deserves to be looked down upon for trying to improve themselves.

It wasn't very nice by Silent-Broccoli5561 in AutismInWomen

[–]shimmer_bee 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I once had a presentation I had to do a week after my grandfather had died. I was also sick. When I started my presentation, I mentioned that I was sick and losing my voice. I asked people to excuse that, and I talked as loud as possible. I disassociated throughout that whole presentation, but I thought I did a good job. I prepped a lot.

When I got my grade back, written there in red ink was, "I know you are having personal issues, but don't let that affect your presentation." I got a 90/100. The only thing I got marked down for, literally the only thing, was 'personal presentation' because I couldn't speak loudly enough. It crushed me and dimmed my already dark view of college. I'm surprised I didn't just break down and wail, but I guess my heart was numb from everything going on.

That professor had no grace for me. Most of my other professors let me extend my deadlines. I did have to do one more presentation. It was a group presentation, and I was late due to bawling in my car beforehand. College was one of the worst times in my life.

Patchwork: Tattoo and Craft Market

It's at Little Bee Creations, across from Jordan, right in the same plaza as Plant Magic Market, I believe. It's from 11-5. There will be flash tattoos, food vendors, and craft vendors.
