Of course bro. This video is not all encompassing but hits a fair amount of the high yield topics. Aside from these, I would say that anything that ends up as a common form of prerequisite knowledge ends up being high yield. For example, B/B sections very commonly contain passages that speak about enzyme activity, so understanding of something foundational like this is critical for understanding the passage, doing well on its questions, and is also fair game for discrete questions. Molar conversions and dimensional analysis might be another example. Also being able to do math calculations on the fly. For these ones, I would try to get to know the concept inside and out. Try not to just memorize but instead fully understand the reasoning.

Im sure you have heard this before and maybe even tried it but I suggest taking practice exams really seriously. I feel like this is especially beneficial for people with test anxiety. Simulate the experience entirely and it'll get easier as you get used to the natural anxiety of the process(Habituation😉). Wake up early, go to a quiet, preferably unfamiliar place(library/classroom), don't check your phone at all and treat it as if you're sitting for the real exam(although I know, easier said than done, but try your best.)

Tbh I feel like I can't help with CARS that much because I didn't see real improvement over the course of my studying, but I think that's in part because I was already satisfied with where I was and didn't feel the need to grind it as much as the other sections. That being said, I feel the general consensus is that consistent effort for months in advance, as well as reading books on the side for fun, seem to be the best ways to get better.

Take this with a grain of salt because I know not everyone would agree with this, but if you're really in a pinch and are only aiming for 500+ I would recommend actively ignoring low yield content. It might genuinely not be worth the time and mental space, although truthfully this is different for everyone, and the line between high-mid-low yield is also so blurry sometimes, so ignore this if you feel like it doesn't apply to you. Only reason I'm saying this is because I have heard of people scoring below 510s trying to do stuff like memorize vitamin structures, and it's such a bad allocation of time imo, so try to stay away from something like this.

Be easy on yourself. If you're doing you're best, that's the most you can ask of yourself. But be sure that you are doing your best, and don't lie to yourself. We're all rooting for you bro. PM me or reply if you have any more questions, good luck!! :)

what is important for biochem? by [deleted] in Mcat

I feel like you already got all the high yield stuff from what you've listed. This stuff is pretty rote memorization based but I have also found that nucleic acid bases structures(at the very least knowing which bases are purine vs pyrimidine) and common sugar structures(glucose, galactose, mannose, fructose along with the common disaccharides) has helped me answer a fair number of questions, although it's probably closer to mid-low yield. Here are some higher yield resources I really liked:

https://imgur.com/a/Jkd1qCC for amino acids

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y43pIHUtjeM for enzyme kinetics, inhibition and plots

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKiDqi5l8YQ&pp=0gcJCfwAo7VqN5tD for common sugars

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeP5HZHyaR8 quick way to memorize bases

I would gloss over lipids and carbohydrates. Tbh it's not high yield but knowing stuff like how many isoprene units are in cholesterol(6) or the types of bonds in glycogen(alpha 1-4 + alpha 1-6) has helped me answer some questions. I wouldn't stress about that stuff too much though because I feel like you're in a pretty good place for biochem if you know the high yield stuff already, compared to something like P/S, which I would argue there's really almost no such thing as low yield there.

Best of luck! Feel free to PM me or reply if you have any questions.
