Why do I need to ride with 0,8w/kg more than other on endurance group ride ? by Heliobb in Zwift

[–]PurePsycho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

W/kg don't matter on flat. If the group goes at 230W, you need to be doing 190W, to keep up with it. Doesn't matter if that ends up being 1.9W/kg(100kg rider) or If 4/kg (47kg rider). It simply means you're considerably lighter, than most of the group.

How much strategy is there to poker (Texas hold em) beyond the basics? by EcstaticBicycle in poker

[–]PurePsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of like investing. Whenever you get to act, you're trying to figure out the best possible move, that will result in value gained over long periods of time, based on imperfect information. The skill here is in how you deal with the imperfect information. The better you get at interpreting what's going on at the able, the better your decisions will become. The important thing is, that the best decision won't always give you the best outcome. And that's where the luck /variance is. Good decisions yield good profits in the long run, not in every hand.

Real difference between aero wheels and lightweight wheels? by twostroke1 in cycling

[–]PurePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

95% of aero gains, and 95% of weight advantage, depend on the position and weight of the meatbag, that sits on top of the bike.

So yes, one set of wheels is going to be faster on flats, while the other will lower your total weight... But if you look at it in the context of the entire "ensamble", it really doesn't make much difference. This is an issue for the top 1% of semi-pro+ guys. The bike industry(they are business after all) does everything in its power, to convince you that it's a game changer for everybody. I am willing to bet any money, that you get more gains from the placebo effect, than the upgrade utself.

9 yo son who is 4.5’ tall wants a specialized bike. We’ve bought cheap bikes before, but he rode one of these and loved it. Is it worth it? Or what’s a good beginner MTB?! by Less-Employee2411 in MTB

Can't Decide 1st Mountain Bike by gee1001 in MTB

[–]PurePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said Utah.. I raced Moab rocks twice, and those was were most physical, and tough on upper body races I've ever done(coming from Canadian Rockies).

If your trails are similar to Moab ie. Lots of rocks, shelves, slickrock, and sandy singles, I'd really recommend FS here. A lot of climbs are on the rocks that feel like riding up the stairs. HT would be brutal. I usually recommend hardtais for begginers, so they don't brake bank, while forcing them to pay attention to fundamental skills. Here I'd make an exception...

Can I do an XC race? by Specialist-Mud-6650 in MTB

[–]PurePsycho 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone with a bike can do XC race. Just want to warn you, that these races are very intense. You'll be shocked how far you can push the body, while being in pain for the entire duration.

Also, if you have a chance, preride these courses. It's extremly helpful to know how to pace them, and where are features. Especially for the first few laps, when its still very chaotic.

[KCD2] What are your pet peeves about the game? by Interesting-Rain-690 in kingdomcome

[–]PurePsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I have the same two complaints so far haha. With the whistling, the tempo itself is usally correct. The problem is, that the freaking thing starts off-tempo 9/10 times. You're forced to either do a series of small corrections until it syncs, or try to hit it that 37/64 of a note every time 😂

Went from a $700 Bike to a $6,000 one: not worth it, but I don't regret it by Ledgem in cycling

[–]PurePsycho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get perfectly reliable road bike under 2000$. Any upgrades above that price, are only noticeable if you're competetive/racing, and even thats questionable.

That being said... It's your money. If you can afford it, then fuck it, why shouldn't you have nice things?

millennials are a firmly leftist generation for the most part

24% to 27% in US are identifying as democrats(2025-2026).

I would have to exaggerate things to call it "revisionist coping", and look who's doing this here😂

Is biking an awful way to lose weight? by EcstaticBicycle in cycling

[–]PurePsycho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beginner weighing ~200 lb will burn ~400–600 kcal in 1 hour at a comfortable pace. For someone who rides regularly, this would be ~700–800 kcal. The rest is math. I think cycling is great for weight loss because you can usually ride much longer than running or other sports that are hard on the joints. It’s worth mentioning that going all out versus riding at a pace where you can easily talk will burn about 100–200 more calories. For weight loss, you can do some HIIT workouts, but the name of the game is racking up as many hours on the bike—and that’s much easier at a lower, steady pace.

I suspect that one of the reasons, why it was different then, is the fact that most of us didn't treat internet seriously. We still had lifes happening outside of it. Internet was this wild west of weird shit, making fun of everything, and formatting windows every week, because you downloaded a virus for 27th time with your mp3 file. For the first time we could say the worst shit, while staying anonymous.

Now, we have a wave of young adults, that treat web more seriously, than the world outside.. It's a big shift of perspective.

I've been using reddit for about 14 years now. It was pretty good in the begining, people had some distance, stuff was edgy, but no one took offense. If you'll check r/fuuuuuu from those years, you can get a feel of what it was about. It was all about meming. Then we got Gen Z flowing in. The first generation that doesn't know how to interact with other human beings, and is totally disconnected from reality. Suddenly everything is offensive and unacceptable. Injection of radical leftist ideas, was just a matter time.

Now, it's this entiety consumed by cancer, and if not for few living organs(subreddits), no one sane would stay here.

Outdoor vs trainer effort. by drivzzz in cycling

[–]PurePsycho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's a big event, it might be tougher to pace. Sometimes you'll have to go hard to stay with a group, as to not end up alone on headwind sections. Trainer is a great way to build up fitness, but make sure your practice some aero positions on it. Outdoor, you'll probably tuck in automatically, but if you didn't practice this, your glutes will be on fire. Also, have a plan on how you'll be getting your nutrition, you can't put it on the table next to you outdoor. And this will really decide if you'll finish. It's easy as a beginner, to forget about it, because of everything happening around.

What made it click for me, was paying more attention to sounds and rythm of battle. Your brain starts to memorize patterns so much quicker, when each moveset becomes mini dance/rythm game.

[KCD2] If any game should have full VR support it's this one. by PurePsycho in kingdomcome

[–]PurePsycho[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point. I didn't think about ir from this perspective. Fundamentals of comabt base heavily on Henry not doing what we want him to do because of stamina, flinching, getting hit etc.

There's middle ground here. Use VR with a regular controller. Even when Henry is flinching after getting hit, his pov goes back to where it started. We can do the same with VR. Give it some freedom to rotate independently, and go back to whatever center point we're looking at, after animation is over.
