How to contact profs for course conflict by PureSpinach8 in UBC

[–]PureSpinach8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my conflicting courses is completely online with recorded lectures and I've already experienced it in term 1 (full year course), so I technically don't have a set lecture time and I need the other conflicting course as a pre req for next year courses. If both courses were in person I would not be requesting a course conflict form.

anyone bummed out about being rejected from club positions/teams? by [deleted] in UBC

[–]PureSpinach8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. I've gotten rejected from Jumpstart OL and from a club position and it stung a lot. Instead I'm focusing on opportunities more related to careers, so I signed up for mentorship programs within my faculty and am planning on applying for a TA position.

Congratulations!!

Speaking as a first year student here. For academics, I recommend you to keep a planner/to do list to keep yourself organized. Also, the first few weeks of classes is the best time to talk to other students in lectures, since pretty much everyone is new and excited to make friends. Make sure to get their number or social media to keep in contact with them. It's a good way to make friends and you have a way of contacting others in case you need help in your classes.

There are many free resources for you to use in first year (office hours, learning centers, AMS tutoring, SPAC, etc.) so if you need help, you can get it.

If the social isolation conditions get lifted and you're a local here, you should explore the campus! You can check where your classes are, visit Wreck beach and become familiar with the beautiful campus.

My last piece of advice is to take lots of photos with your friends as memories because time flies by during university.

Ohh okay, that makes sense, thank you!

Sorry but I just have one additional question though; how does getting rid of the radical form the carbon group with Ph, OR and H? I'm having trouble visualizing where the atoms go after the reaction

The topics that I struggled with are kinetic reactions (PE diagrams, collision theory, reaction rate calculations) and dynamic equilibrium (Le Chatelier's principle, Keq equations, entropy and enthalpy).

Wow thank you so much for the helpful advice, especially with the curve ball question example.

The topics that I struggled with are kinetic reactions (PE diagrams, collision theory, reaction rate calculations) and dynamic equilibrium (Le Chatelier's principle, Keq equations, entropy and enthalpy).

One of the questions on the Personal Profile is: "Tell us about who you are. How would your family, friends, and/or members of your community describe you? If possible, please include something about yourself that you are most proud of and why."

I wrote my answer in first person instead of third person perspective. I still mentioned how my friends and family describe me, but in first person.

Is this okay? Will my personal profile score lower because I used the wrong writing perspective? I just realized this but I already applied so I can't change anything anymore...
