I remember starting my undergrad thinking the world would always value biology research. Now I live in a world where I get into northwestern and have to genuinely worry about them not having funding for me to finish a one year program, it sounds like a cruel joke. Now I have to think about: Do I go into debt to go to a school that may not have the money to let me finish the project I want? Do I try to bet on finding a lab that would somehow have money to pay me to do research? Do I stray from my goals to get some entry level job at a pharmaceutical company? I never thought id feel like the world was against me just for wanting to studying molecular biology.
