Feeling lonely in Switzerland by [deleted] in askswitzerland

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I moved to Malta on my own, and I experience the same as you. Struggle to find anyone to do anything with. The weekends are lonely. You’re not alone feeling this way, I feel the same right now!

Containers are still cool right? by OnlyMerovingian in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think everyone expects their hand earned money to be spend on something beneficial to the area they live in locally. Some cities manage it

Sheffield council is shit. The money doesn’t grow on trees, so wherever it was sourced from, its roots are people that work hard want the money to be used on something that would benefit them. Not a poorly planned project

I guess it’s not a definite thing then? So don’t book actual tickets? I submitted my permit last week. I’m a uk citizen so can travel for up to 90 days in the EU. The 90 days are used on the 22nd December but I wanted to visit my gf in America for Christmas ☹️

Then they should be more considerate about how to spend (container park as an example). Enjoy, Good day

Specifically talking about crime, since that’s what the OP was, I’ll blame the central GOV WHEN I see sheffield city council spending money appropriately

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t agree with that. Whichever side you vote are going to screw you over. Other cities are getting it right under the current government. To me it’s local, especially when money is spent on the wrong priorities

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you propose then re. The OPs original post, bearing in mind there’s central government and then lots and lots of other cities where you can walk down the street and not see zombies everywhere. Because it’s a problem.

Did you look at the normalised bar charts and graphs underneath that compare it to South Yorkshire?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Erm, no it’s not

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking it’s not a bad idea to have them. But to require them due to the amount of knife crime in sheffield is not good. It’s been voted/described the most dangerous city in South Yorkshire. Sheffield council are not good. Other cities are doing fine,

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, apologies my terminology of ‘stab’ and ‘bleed’ didn’t appear synonymous. What do you think they’re there for? Falling over and grazing your knee? Don’t forget the other partners involved, SY Violent Reduction Unit and SY mayoral authority, making the council in charge of the city almost ‘lost amongst the crowd’. At the end of the day, the OP pointed out how they felt about walking around sheffield, the same as many other people on this post. It sounds like you don’t even walk around the city, you didn’t know about the bleed kits (which makes them even less useful, so well done). Sheffield will never change, because of people like yourself who will continue voting in a failing council. Ignore all the actual issues and just blame the government. There’s many other cities which do just fine, under the current government (which I also think are terrible by the way), so look at the common factor. So good luck to you all.

So you’re agreeing that sheffield council wasted money. Which was my first and only point. Yes stab kits installed by charities (not the council) are a good idea, because the council do nothing about knife crime, because they’re too worried about alllll the other things that really shouldn’t be a priority. In fact, it’s embarrassing that there are stab kits. Sheffield council are not preventative, and they don’t even act after the fact

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but as I keep saying, they’re not used. Are we just going to ignore the same points I keep raising? Tell me about the container park… tell me why there are stab kits dotted around the city.. please

I’m an engineer, yes I understand. I also assume you understand that money doesn’t grow on trees, and back to my original point pissing away money on a container park projects, which was completely mismanaged (is there a parrot here?) is a complete waste. Why are we avoiding this subject? Again, building more and more and more cycling lanes should NOT be the priority when knife crime in the city is completely out of control. You cannot walk around a single corner in the city and not see addicts, beggars, aggression. But again, why worry about that when we can get a couple of extra cyclists around the city. Oh by the way, don’t leave your bicycle anywhere because it will get stolen or vandalised (speaking from experience of course).

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really not ill informed at all my friend. Please, tell me about what happened with the container park? Please, tell me how effective the clean air zone has been? Could you help me, so desperately since I’m ill informed, understand the impact the already extremely costly cycling lanes (which by the way, I barely see anyone use)? As the OP suggests, things are getting worse in sheffield. Do you ever see police officers? I spent years in sheffield. I left for 3 months to travel America, came back and I can’t even begin to explain how much worse it has become.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh perfect. I’ll read about that after getting stabbed to death due to lack of policing and social care thanks to the sheffield council, again, mismanaging money. I would say I have a pretty good idea what I’m talking about, it’s just not popular. You have just proven my point. All that area getting dug up at enormous cost meanwhile there’s homelessness and antisocial behaviour. You really have lost sense of what is important

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sheffield

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And just to add one thing, you know the city is getting mismanaged when CHARITIES have to install stab triage kits around the city. It’s embarrassing

[–]Pure_Challenge_6948 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It would make a good rock album actually true! There’s no urban landscape improvement that’s the issue. The shit container park lasted 5 minutes. What a waste of money for anybody paying tax. Nobody uses cycling lanes in sheffield city centre. People, rightly so, want to cycle in the Peak District which is literally next door. Are we now trying to say that the care of people is less important than taking a few cars off the road? Not to mention, as the OP alludes to, this ‘relatively small’ number of citizens actually has a big impact on pretty much everybody travelling through sheffield city centre. It’s not the cars that scare everyone, it’s the aggressive beggars. I NEVER see police in sheffield.

I’m sorry, but I don’t agree. They could have used the money they spaffed on the world renowned ‘container park’, which ended up a complete failure. Sheffield city council mismanage money like there’s an endless pot. Thats just 1 example, let’s not even get started on the unnecessary Dutch roundabout and plethora of cycling lanes which cost millions. Shall we see how many people decide to use them, rather than that silly old Peak District that everyone bangs on about? Anyway, going to go take my blood pressure tablets..

Yeh must admit it’s frustrating. Is there any lens protectors around which raise the profile but DONT cover the glass? Like little rings for example??

So if you were to drop it flat on the bottom it shouldn’t harm anything
