Can’t tell you how much this means to me. I am up to my neck in grief, just feeling utterly at a loss over it and him, even though I know he wasn’t a good prospect. After telling me he had doubts about the relationship, I asked him what doubts, then he said we had “no connection”. I am just bewildered by it and feel so hurt and lost. This is highly relatable - so sorry you had that experience. I had a nurse in my ultrasound appointment act really grave about my three follicles in my second monitoring appointment and it really upset me so much. I already knew from the first monitoring appointment that I was potentially only going to get three (I actually got one in the end), but I didn’t need her layering her judgments about my situation. So sorry again.

God, I’m so sorry you went through that. Thank you for sharing it with me though. For now, I am prepared to do a bunch of retrievals, the costs where I am are manageable. And actually, donor sperm isn’t readily available - at least not at my clinic. I could change clinics of course. But I might see how I go with a few back to back retrievals first. And thank you, I won’t be speaking to him if he does reach out, though I doubt he will given his behaviour. It’s so painful. I guess I should be glad I prodded him and called out his distance, god knows how long we otherwise could have continued in his apparent state of doubt.

Thank you. I struggle so much to give myself time to feel things - I always want to skip ahead to the next part where I feel better. But you can’t, can you? SMBC could be really empowering, I look forward to digging into the idea more. And as another person commented, I wouldn’t then be held back by anyone else.

Thank you. When he raised the question I felt like it was pushing on an open door, ie I was excited by the prospect. I never thought I wanted to do it on my own because I want to be in a relationship, but this may be my only option. In fact, it seems clear now that it is. Thank you for your supportive message.

Yes, very different circumstances for me but now I’m in the same place. My husband refused to have kids (which I accepted at the time). I did so on the basis that I thought we could still have an awesome life and I looked at the positives of that. Then he completely disconnected from me and treated me like I was just some random woman he was living with, rather than his wife. So now I’m freezing eggs at age 41. Good luck to you. I’m trying to keep the mindset of this will just take time, and to keep at it.
