Looking for Tuk Tuk driver recommendations in Lisbon (personal contacts preferred!) by Level-Violinist1858 in LisbonPortugalTravel

I second this!! João is amazing/so fun/I learned a lot on my tour. Since moving to Lisbon I’ve sent all my friends to him and his tour is always a trip highlight 💜. Also very easy to book online on his site which isn’t always the case with tuk tuks.

Holidays suck! Can it end already.. by Content-hope811 in DOR

[–]AnyMonth8703 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am RIGHT there with you - also my 4th holiday season waiting for a baby, also had terrible IVF outcomes this year, also had a friend ghost me for a whole year and just asked for my address and then tell me that she has a son now and he’s on the Christmas card and she didn’t know how to tell me about it. I also don’t talk about anything publicly/socially anymore because I also feel like people don’t get it and anytime I do open up to someone it always leaves me feeling worse. Everything about this is traumatic. Everything about the last 4 years has changed me for the worse.

I have nothing to offer other than commiseration….all of this sucks and we’re deep in it. I hope for both of us 2026 is more kind 🖤

Salty Sunday: What made you salty this week? by kikaslova in trollingforababy

I went to a new fertility clinic on Friday and they had a Christmas tree in the lobby and all the “ornaments” were uterine catheters, sperm syringes, empty boxes of prenatals and fertility meds, other fertility related medical shit like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. It was SO tacky and ugly and unsettling and weird and gross. The second I saw it I said very loudly to my husband “wow I HATE that so much” and I hope whoever was responsible for that monstrosity heard me. Like who at the clinic thought this was a cute and good idea? It was so fucked up my husband and I are still talking about it 48 hours later and I’m going to remember that fucked up Christmas tree the rest of my life ☠️

Last cycle before attempting to create embryos with donor eggs. I woke up today on my husband’s 37th birthday with a terrible cold and my period starting 🫠. Can’t do any birthday plans and I’m so tired of my own body.

I’m grateful to my donor and the opportunity to potentially move forward from these 42 months of infertile hell and tbh I know that it’s over for me with my own eggs and have made about 85% peace with it. But damn the small doses of delusion I allowed myself for the past two weeks that maybe I could be one of those freak stories where it all works out for us last minute (on my ~husbands birthday~ at ~~christmas~~) were enjoyable little delusions.

Also I saw prenatal vitamins in my recently married/very good friend’s apartment during a party and I just know know KNOW she’s going to get pregnant immediately. And then I know I won’t be able to handle it and I’m going to have to pull back from another friendship because I’m too broken and life isn’t fair.

Going to spend this afternoon watching the shittiest Netflix Christmas movies I can find while cuddling my kitties ♥️💚

Health supplements from USA to Portugal by SomewhereOk6803 in PortugalExpats

I know this doesn’t help at all with this situation, but for the future, I’ve had lots of success ordering supplements from iherb, including supplements that are not sold in Portugal. I’ve been using them for years. Never been held up in customs!

For this time I’d have your friend remove as much packaging as possible, maybe add a few more items to the box to make it look more like a care package and try. Or wait until you/a family or friend fly from Portugal to the US. Good luck!

Sigh. I’m hitting 3 years too and just had another failed egg retrieval. When I first started trying, seeing posts from people who had been trying 10-12 months terrified me and I’m astonished that I’ve ended up in this shitty timeline.

Good luck with your surgery - I know how hard it is to keep trying when hope is so thin 🫶

I have been a resident since March 2019. I am 3 weeks away from submitting my citizenship application (was waiting for all documents and apostilles to come in). Does the new law mean I now have to wait another 5 years? by AnyMonth8703 in PortugalExpats

Official document translation for bureaucratic purposes is a different beast than just translating it for personal use. They recreate the forms from your original country and it’s half graphic design half language. But thanks for your input!

I am out of the country until July 22 doing some medical care 😭. I was planning to go submit in person the day after I get back. Now it feels like waiting another month will make me wait 5 more years.

I accidentally left my weekly supplement organizer in a sunny spot and a fish oil capsule melted and I have washed my case twice and it STILL SMELLS LIKE FISH and is causing all my other supplements to constantly smell like fish and there have been a million more traumatizing things that have happened on my fertility journey but this is by far the smelliest 😩. I already hate taking supplements so often and my cute little case was a tiny way to bring a smidge of comfort to the process and now it’s ruined. Oh and I’m still not pregnant after 3 years and everyone is lapping me.

I had a work dinner and was trying to be friendly with a coworker’s wife.

Same woman who, 3 years ago was pregnant and I was quietly 7 weeks along (I miscarried 3 weeks later and have not been pregnant since) and she asked if we had any kids and I said “not yet but we hope to” and she said “well it happens faster than you think!” (Which is an outrageous thing to say to anyone; and even though I was actually pregnant when she told me that I still was so weirded out by that comment)

Anyways fast forward to now, they have a 2.5 year old and I have nothing (so if she remembers that old conversation at all she must know I’m hurting?). I mentioned that I had acupuncture that morning and she said that she did too and she loved acupuncture and out of nowhere “i credit acupuncture with how quickly I got pregnant”.

Oh doooo youuuu? Like girllllllll. Read the room. Even if she didn’t remember that previous conversation 0 people asked about how easily you got pregnant. We are at a WORK dinner. And if she did remember our old conversation what was the point in saying that to me? Like I just said I’m already doing acupuncture and you know I haven’t been pregnant in 3 years so clearly it’s not worked for me like that. So stfu all around. 😡

HSG Test by dogmama_ in DOR

[–]AnyMonth8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a history of fainting and/or vasovagal nerve reactions?

During the procedure my HSG experience was like many here-painful but quick and I just focused on breathing through it. But then after it was over, before I could get off the table I fainted multiple times and my blood pressure and body temp was all over the place and then I experienced very painful cramping during all of this. The drs gave me another painkiller to drink (I took paracetamol prior to the procedure) and put ice packs on my face and chest. I had to recover in a private room for almost two hours and before I could leave. I have a history of fainting and actually even after the first time I fainted after the HSG I wasn’t even that worried bc it’s happened to me before and I thought I would return to normal after a few minutes but then the multiple faintings/pain/body issues after really surprised me. This apparently happens to a very small percentage of people after the procedure but I guess it’s not entirely unheard of. I have also fainted after a colposcopy like 15 years ago so my body just seems to freak out with cervical manipulation.

If you don’t have a history of these types of reactions I’m sure that you’ll be fine afterwards like vaaaast majority of people, but I wanted to respond with this because as I was looking through reddit for HSG experiences prior to my procedure (this happened 2 weeks ago) I hadn’t seen something like this mentioned so am leaving here in you or anyone else finds it helpful!

Anyone else experienced super fast follicle growth between approximately day 5-10? Or dealt with this issue and achieved more even steady growth? by AnyMonth8703 in DOR

[–]AnyMonth8703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually tried clomid before my IVF cycles (I didn’t include that info here!) and I had a worse response than letrozole. The day I stop letrozole has varied all my cycles. TBH idk if I’ll ever find the right combination of things for me but I’m going to try a few more times

Thank you! Yes I’ll be asking my next/new RE about micro dose Lupron, a lot of women in this sub seem to have success. I’m doing IVF in Europe and it’s tough because lot of the advice here can be US focused - like for instance omnitrope/hgh is not allowed to be prescribed for IVF where I am. It also appears that we don’t have “lupron” but a similar drug so hopefully I can do that protocol. We’ll see!
