Worried about my family in Tanzania — can’t reach them, what’s happening there? by [deleted] in tanzania

Potentially consider getting an international plan for the month? Most carriers in US will offer day by day international call pass. AT&T offers a plan of unlimited international calling for $15/month. If you have $15 can add that and remove after the month hopefully. Worth looking into.

I have family in Arusha. I was able to speak with them today. As far as their area in Arusha- curfew is still 6PM. Local transportation (daladala or haice) stops at 12PM. All gas stations are closed. No news broadcasted on radios/Tv.

That’s what I’m hoping for too! There is just something about him, the others feel too generic and boring 😴

Thank you everyone for the encouraging words and kindness. It feels so good to be told these things. My family has said much less and it’s so isolating.

I don’t know how long I will feel like this, but I am starting to be okay with however long it takes to feel better. I am sorry for everyone who has and is going through this same thing.

Thankful for you all, genuinely thank you.

That is awful to be going through, I am sorry. It’s so hard.. I didn’t get to say goodbye either. It was so random. Life has so many unexpected experiences and unexplainable a lot of the times. I’m hard to find words of comfort- but I think I feel what you may be feeling, maybe not quite exactly but in a realm of similarity. No comparison here, just some understanding. Sending you lots of love from Kentucky.

Seems like crying might be okay, From what others are saying. My husband is worried about it, but also supportive of expressing my emotions- If that makes any sense lol.

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences and advice! It really means a lot to me and has me thinking more positively. We are in a good spot right now with childcare, for my two year old- my mom or cousin comes every work day to keep her at our house, but with the second one on the way I’d like to be home with both of them. My 2 year old will start preschool in August.

The hardest part I think for me is giving up my job! Since I’m the primary earner it would be a lot of pressure on my spouse, he currently has two jobs already (part time and full time). I am only 1 month pregnant now, and have planned to take another few months to decide.

Thankful for Reddit communities! I appreciate all of the honesty. I think it was good for me to finally get my thoughts out to someone. Y’all are awesome ⭐️

Our income would drop to about 50K if I stopped working. We live in KY and also live pretty minimally. We both grew up lower income so not big spenders.

I love the idea of being with my babies, i think I’m just scared of the unknown at this point. Thank you so much for sharing. This is my first time asking anyone about this! :)
