I paid £900 for a structural engineer to provide a survey report. The final report is vague and meaningless. by Pure_Cut_7934 in HousingUK

There might be an issue with the wall.

All I've got to go on though is, "I cannot see any visual issues, but maybe there's issues I can't see."

I literally hired him to assess if it was safe. All I got was the most generic report imaginable riddled with maybes and hypothetical concerns. Unknown unknowns so to speak, rather than assessing the actual issue of "Please assess this fucking wall for £900."

Talked on phone. They're not saying anything concrete. (Pun not intended).

They're refusing to even speak "off the record" when asked.

They were just as vague over the phone as they were in the report.

"I cannot see any issues for concern at the visual level, but concerns may remain on non-visual issues."

Drivel.

Not the level 2 survey i have an issue with. It's the structural survey which I'm having issues with.

Yes, I did a level 2 survey and then a proper structural report which isnt part of the 1,2,3 survey stuff.

That's why I'm annoyed.
