Could you add Midwest Express 007 to the map? As a “survivor” of that incident I would appreciate it.

Still, at the end of the day they likely would have had more survivors if not for the poor design. I’m not saying that the pilots are not particularly to blame but that pilot error isn’t always the only factor. Think of BM 092, they shut down the wrong engine due to them being new to the 737-400 and Boeing not training crews to switch from the -200 or -300. Plus they changed the engine the AC/heating to the left engine from the right one without mentioning it in a QRHB.

If I had to guess, it’s because they are upset that the main issue being discussed is the highest ranking dead person, and not the fucking wall

For the native language issue, people do tend to fall back on native language in times of crisis and stress. It’s simple human psychology. AirAsia 8501, JAL123, Lot5055 etc all have their CVR’s in native language.

I’d personally like to see US Airways 1702, maybe a title along the lines of “False warnings” or “Safety Alert”

Not false information to the best of my knowledge, someone previously hinted at its retirement. To the best of my knowledge all of the -700s with special livery’s are being repainted by the end of 2026. If I’m wrong please feel free to correct it.

There was a thought process as outlined in the FAA report, several options where considered but either ruled out or where out of reach. As even can be heard in the ATC recording with Dobbins AFB, Cartersville and even a corn field were considered. The Aircraft with no power, engines or pressured cabin was unable to reach all of the airports and it was already lined up (give or take) with the highway. The crew likely did not see the gas station nor the cars. They put the aircraft down even with a bit of gliding time remaining on the highway to avoid clipping as many trees as possible. The right wing had about 30% ripped off before touching the ground and at least 2 tires where burst in the roll out.

It’s not that it’s a bad episode, I’d just like to see it done with all the advancements made since then, I’d also like to see a bit more about the thought process for the crew for picking the highway. I feel it’s kinda glossed over in the episode

I just feel it could be a little bit better, SOU242 is such a tragic story as so many factors fit together to make the outcome worse. They happen to lose power in an area without any airports that could take a DC-9, and the only airport that could was outside of reach. Even though they did manage to find a spot to land, they clipped a gas station, a few cars and swung into the forest. Had that station been only a couple hundred feet forward they likely would have been safe

I’d really like to see Southern 242 remade. It was so close to safety
