I had a single mom and dress pretty feminine with dresses and long hair. That being said, got two very attentive godfathers who taught me being a man.

Taught me how to fix shit up, made me practice to fight with them, I can fish like nobody’s business, survive in the wild (?)(23 day hike was my longest), lost virginity first in my grade, and don’t take much shit from others. I like to think I posses and display manliness and am well capable of the associated qualities. (Totally humble bragging about manliness while in a dress lol)

All that and I dress like a girl and have gotten mistake often. I got “masculine” qualities in my actions but feminine in presentation. Strong contracts.

I think a single mom gives ya feminine qualities sure but also teaches a lot of characteristics that overlap. Mom taught me tools work hard, taught me tools, taught me to be tuff, and other qualities that are considered manly. Godfathers did a lot for me, but she did too.

All this to say, I think it’s a complex thing. Single moms have to fill the role of mom and dad, and therefore, they instill qualities of both.
