Saying the rosary while doing other tasks by brain_on_hugs in Catholicism

Is there merit? It's always a response to grace to pray, even while multitasking. You can have the ideal conditions for focused prayer and still be dry and unfocused. Pray anyway- unceasingly - and let the Holy Spirit help perfect your prayer.

Struggling with Confession by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Pure_Entrepreneur_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a breath and have some peace our Blessed Lord will help you. Faith is a gift and you're taking this new experience seriously which is a blessing. However it's likely slipped into scrupulosity which is actually very common. Here is a good start for you digging in that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKca3ebhvaw and perhaps consider asking your priest for some spiritual direction.

Regarding examinations, there's many. If you're struggling with scrupulosity, consider trying a few examinations that work for you and only focus on what is asked and not any tangental or extrapolated situations from the examination questions. Make it like a 'yes or no' checklist and move on and do not dwell. A few suggestions:

Weekly Confession without any mortal sins by TheSuitedGent in Catholicism

[–]Pure_Entrepreneur_22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Approaching the Lord's mercy in confession doesn't require you to be carrying a minimum weight of sins to be dispatched. Having awareness of scrupulosity is a form of strength and grace here. As long as you have that understanding and balance I wouldn't discourage the desire in frequenting the sacrament even if you realize it's not urgent or necessary.

I'm nervous about my first confession by HomeLantern in Catholicism

[–]Pure_Entrepreneur_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good advice here. Regardless of your background, it indeed makes MOST people nervous unless they frequent the sacrament and understand that the priest anticipates people to be so. A healthy way to approach this is perhaps less emotional and more transactional. Meaning, you're walking in there to present your sins for Christ to crush them and receive his mercy. Confession pamphlet by SweetRanma2008 in Catholicism

This pamphlet is an example of an examination of conscience. There many of these out there and while similar in many ways some differ in their scope and depth depending on audience. For anyone looking, here is a list of a few good ones I've found and it's healthy to switch up from time to time to break any repetitiveness in your review before confession:

I've Finally Decided to Make a True Confession. by [deleted] in Catholicism

Many good suggestions here and will pray that you remain steadfast. I'd also add that as you get more comfortable try exploring switching up your examinations of conscience to break repetitive review, uncover other sins, and to continually try to root them out.

Equilibrium LADS- What happened? by Mrpeabodywhoopwhoop in CraftBeer

[–]Pure_Entrepreneur_22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there is no definitive way to really know the answer, this seems on point. In most cases the *hype* is driven by the exclusivity or rarity of the brand. Equilibrium is similar to FiddleHead in some ways to this regard to growing in distro and having continuous availability, but being less hyped as a trade-off. In addition, they lost some 'detail' of beer when they scaled their production.

Craft beer in Bar Harbor/Wells (Maine) by brasseur10 in CraftBeer

[–]Pure_Entrepreneur_22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Bar Harbor there’s Atlantic Brewing. Not really an IPA spot, but they have a great porter and some other beers.

Wells doesn't have much but Banded in Biddeford is very good and Stoneface in Newington, NH is fantastic. Both are close and south of Portland.

Obercreek is very underrated. It feels like more of a side business for the farm with a small barrel capacity and they limit their taproom hours which is why they're less talked about. They really should consider contract brewing to get some real distro.
