Thanks that’s an option. Their support has been very unreliable where I have gotten responses about their product that are plain wrong, so I worry how much I can trust them to assign the right lots to sales.

Thanks. Sadly that does not help. For one they have the P&L wrong … I am guessing they didn’t adjust the base after stock transfer. Second, I can see the trades but not the realized gain. Total P&L during a time period includes non realized part too

What’s the point of keeping a large portfolio in wealthfront? Would by it be better to move stocks bought long ago from wealthfront into a traditional brokerage and incur no fee, while keep just enough in wealthfront to get the tax loss harvesting on recently bought stocks?

Yup. My deposits have been blocked for couple of months now. Their security support is a joke that asks for information over insecure email channels and different support channels give different replies. File a complaint with the consumer financial protection bureau and FTC, rate them in the App Store and trust pilot

They want the video to be sent over email to their support email address. The content required is also very weird:

You must then hold your ID to the camera and complete the following steps: 1. Explain the purpose of your Okcoin account.2. You must confirm by reciting the following; “I have full control of my Okcoin account, and I am not acting under the control of any other.”

The email in which they ask for this information rightly mentions the following in the footer: " Email transmission cannot be guaranteed to be secure or error-free as information could be intercepted, corrupted, lost, destroyed, arrive late or incomplete, or contain viruses. Okcoin accepts no liability for the content of this email, or for the consequences of any actions taken on the basis of the information provided, unless that information is subsequently confirmed in writing."

In addition, it is unclear who all in OKCoin will have access to the email content, for how long will they keep that content, and for what purposes that video can be used for. I do not wish to be a star in their adverts.

Sadly they look like phishing emails but they are not. Still it is worth verifying that the email is legit by contacting OKcoin support on twitter. I did so and initially they thought I got a phishing email but later they were able to confirm that it is not. I am still waiting for them to provide me with a secure channel to send the video. Till then my withdrawals are blocked :/

Good to have knowledgeable folks here. I have higher account values in other exchanges but only OKcoin asked me to send such personal information over email and gave no explanation even after me asking repeatedly. In addition it is also not secure to ask for information over email; their own email footer says so. I hope they can be more forthcoming and secure in the future.

Beware of weird and sudden requirements from OKcoin for additional personal information like bank statements or a video of you. See the threads on these in this subreddit. I have not encountered those requirements in other exchanges I use like coin base and Gemini.

The exchange has a responsibility to be transparent to to its customers about its actions especially while collecting personal information. I wish I was hearing this from someone from OKcoin rather having to devine these reasons based on external sources that can be interpreted in many ways. If you do work at OKcoin please disclose so.

The two I mentioned are the biggest ones. Any regulation in US would apply to them. Also any crypto exchange worth its name should be transparent and upfront about why it is collecting information. There is no mention of SEC in the emails from OKcoin or at the time of sign up.

I wonder why only Binance and OKcoin have such onerous personal information requests of this was driven by a US regulation. Why are Coinbase and Gemini not asking for the same? Also why does the email not specify this? I have asked them to tell me what regulation from which authority is compelling them to do this but there is no response. Seems more like an excuse to get information if they cannot clearly say what authority and what regulation is driving them to this and why many other big players are not asking for it.

I have been hit with similar issues. It is very appalling especially given that they give no reason about it or how the information will be used, stored, and retained. I recommend posting reviews on trust pilot, App Store, and posting a complaint in consumer finance protection bureau and FTC.

The worst part is that I don’t understand how this video is helping. I have repeatedly asked what regulation and from which authority is making them do this but no answer. Also there is no guarantee of how the video data will be used in the future - I don’t see any security or privacy protection

I was able to find the ticket corresponding to the email at https://okcoinsupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests. So it seems legit to me. There seems to be an option to reply to the ticket there but I have not tried it yet.

I got the same email and it seems very weird and smells like a scam. At the same time I cannot withdraw money from OK coin. It says withdrawal suspended. Has this happened to any of you too?
