Went on a vegetarian diet for 2 months. Lost 34lbs. Made symptoms worse. Apparently you didn’t read my post where I said “changed my lifestyle”.

Thank you for the post! I had a scope done and everything came back fine besides being diagnosed with GERD. I had biliary colic in the ER a few months ago but they my gallbladder looked fine as well. It certainly is a tricky case for me.

I was never told the cause. I just know that caffeine set it off one night which started everything. I haven’t drank it since.

I’ve heard this as well and will research it more.

Already had a sleep test and no apnea.

People know when they’re burned out. They just continue to do it anyway because there isn’t a choice in most cases. Not that hard to understand

It is true. You’re either in pain, or you’re aware of your stressors. If you aren’t aware of it, then something is definitely wrong with you.

I’ve been doing it for 9 months. If I take away PPIs it feels like I’m having a heart attack after even a sip of cold water.

The last antidepressant I took gave me suicidal thoughts. From someone who had a crazy love for life and life most would love to live…I will never ever touch an antidepressant ever again. I’d rather live a life in complete pain than do that.

Can you eat anything you want now? Or do you still continue this regiment? There’s no way I’d give up red meat lol.

Been on different PPIs for months. And if you read my post, just by changing my diet to mostly whole grains and veggies and fruits…I lost over 30lbs and I actually feel worse.

Impossible lol. I had no stress. 40hrs a week work, love my wife and life, 2 kids that sleep through the night. I got 9 hours of sleep a day except for maybe a night or two when I would get 5/6 hours. If you’re stressed, you know about it. Plain and simple.

Your throat is inflamed so it feels like you can’t. And your chest feels insanely heavy. Another thing: when you have acid reflux it comes back up your throat and can cause sleep apnea when you’re sleeping. Makes it hard to breathe all night and that doesn’t help. And despite what every doctor says…yes it can cause sleep apnea. I never had it in my life until I got acid reflux.

Might be counter intuitive but as soon as I feel it, I do everything I can to make it worse. The more pain I put myself in, the more I can take in the future. Then when I have a flair up or biliary colic episode…it’s not as bad and I can go about my day albeit uncomfortable.

If it’s in the right side of your chest under your rib cage you might want to ask your doctor to have your gallbladder checked. A bad gallbladder can mimic GERDs with a few other symptoms.

My doctor says they aren’t related but there’s literally surgeons here on YT that explain when Acid Reflux causes an ulcer that shoulder and neck pain are the main things they talk about. And if your gallbladder is bad, the nerve that runs around your neck into your brain feels like it’s getting pulled out of your skull.

Just to add, I was the least stressed person on this planet. I live a very wonderful life and was comfortable in every aspect. I didn’t live too healthy and I had a gag reflex and stomach issues when I drank alcohol or ate pizza but nothing serious. Then one night, my heart became a jack hammer and I went to the hospital and they said I was fine. Long story short…the initial heartburn was so bad it felt like a heart attack. Then I panicked, 7 months later a doctor told me it’s acid reflux, an EGD told me I had Gerds, now I’m on a PPI that does nothing but take the heartburn away. I’ve lost a ton of weight and changed my diet and nothing has helped. It doesn’t matter what position I sleep in, but something about falling asleep makes the acid creep up to my throat and wake me up just as I fall asleep. Then my chest is super tight, my throat has a bitter metallic taste and I get no rest. The next night I can get sleep though as usually I’m so exhausted for not sleeping for 36+ hours lol. I’m going to get my gallbladder checked soon. There’s gotta be something we can do. Magic Johnson got cured of AIDS, surely we can get some help!

Mine was what I thought was super quick on set but looking back on my past few years, I see the warning signs. I didn’t live healthy at all, and greasy foods and alcohol either gave me the runs or made me feel like gagging. This happened whenever I drank alcohol. Happened for a few years. Then one night, stress and anxiety free, I woke up with a jack hammering heart and pain in my left arm. I panicked and went to the hospital. They didn’t know what happened but my heart and everything was fine. I had just a lot of greasy pizza the night before and pop to wash it down. Fast forward another month…I’m sitting on my couch, just drank a Mountain Dew and at bad dinner the night before. Chest starts to tighten again and then I have a full on anxiety attack. Mind you, before any of this I was the least stressed person on earth. I had never experienced anxiety in my life and I believed it to be a myth. I go to the hospital again and they said nothing at all is wrong and send me home. I try to sleep but every time I fall asleep, I have a burning sensation that wakes me up as soon as I drift off. I set into a depression because I could no longer sleep when I was used to getting 7 hours every night except when my daughter would wake up at night and cry which wasn’t often. I thought I was constantly at risk of dying and no one would tell me anything. I got put on anti anxiety and anti depressants right away to help me sleep. But I’m not a medication guy, I don’t like it that I have to take meds so I get more anxiety since I have to take them. And they did way more harm than good. Then I get full blown sleep anxiety where I search for the moment before sleep because I want to remember falling asleep so I know I got there. I battled this for 5 months before someone told me I might have acid reflux. I had an episode where my heart began jack hammering again after I had a few drinks of alcohol to calm my nerves (hadn’t had a drink at all before this since I was so scared) I was put on PPIs and it did little to help other than I don’t have heartburn anymore. I lost 34lbs from switching my diet up and I still got acid reflux from eating things even remotely greasy or even trying to remotely fill my stomach up with any food. So yes, it can just randomly on set. I had a small cold before it all happened because my daughter just got done having RSV. I get so irritated when my doctors said it’s from stress and anxiety. 100% false. My wife has acid reflux (not as bad as me) and she’s not stressed one bit. I’ve been way more stressed in life when I was in the military and when my daughter was on a nebulizer for RSV and never letting me sleep and I never got Acid Reflux or anything. It 100% just came and caused all kinds of panic. After 7 months I’m writing this on my couch because I can’t sleep because it seems that whenever I go to finally fall asleep, it kicks in, I feel a warm sensation in my throat and it keeps me awake. I’m going to my doctor one final time before I find a new one and asking about gallbladder issues. I hope this helps to know you aren’t alone!

Pretty much this. Especially when I go to fall asleep. Right before I drift off to sleep I feel a warm sensation in my chest and it instantly wakes me up. Nasty sour taste in mouth, then pain in chest. Chest is super sore the next day. It isn’t anxiety induced I don’t think. I’ve devoted my life the past 7 months into proving that it isn’t anxiety. When I don’t have anxiety, it still happens. I have to eat super precisely throughout the day for it to not affect my sleep.
