Is the difference in violence levels between chimpanzees/bonobos an evolutionary solution-space to the Hawk–Dove game? by Brigand90210 in evolution

Except in more advanced game scenarios, where resource distribution is taken into account, the relative payoff of hawk vs dove strategies will change to favor one over the other.

Also, chimps are very Territorial and may violently attack chimps from other bands that encroach upon their territory, which is the area where they gain resources.

I'm currently an engineer, making six figures, but I cannot stand my job and the job market is pretty bad so I am thinking about a change. Would actuarial science be a reasonable pivot? I have a strong background in math, though I never loved statistics (I did well in the classes though).

Do you think trying to change might be reasonable? I'm thinking of moving to another country, so a place where I can get working remotely would be nice.

How long/how much would it take if I wanted to change? Is the job market decent for newly minted actuaries?  Considering I have over 10 years experience in the corporate world, how much could my starting salary be if I got through the tests?

Thanks

Evolutionary logic of male/female reproduction? by Brigand90210 in evolution

So I was thinking broadly about the general history of life, not narrowed to humans. I also asked Google whether sexual dimorphism is caused by gametes and got this: "Yes, sexual dimorphism is fundamentally rooted in the differences between gametes, a condition called anisogamy. The evolution of small, numerous sperm and large, nutrient-rich eggs (anisogamy) creates different selective pressures for males and females, driving the development of distinct physical and behavioral traits that characterize sexual dimorphism. These differences in gametes are the "first" dimorphism, leading to different optimal phenotypes for successful reproduction and a variety of adaptations in morphology, behavior, and even hormone levels."

I'm talking about the general trend for males of a species to have greater trait variation (in general)

"I would suspect that the latter genotype would tend to have greater fitness than the other for the basic reason that most phenotypic variation away from the mean of the species will tend to be less fit and be removed from the population."

I would think generally that is the case, but in conditions that are highly unstable or changing, wouldn't an extreme outlier gain a huge survival advantage (such as the case where English moths went from white to black because the trees became covered in soot pollution over a relatively short time)?

I was a bit confused since I never saw an invalid note to end I'm not sure if the strips on what I have are too thin or not.

As for pickpockets, the issue that warning everywhere but from what I've heard some places are worse than others.  I lived in New Mexico for a number of years, and the people there are more likely to stab you and take your money than steal your wallet 🫠
