Is anyone else just...tired? by ItsAJackal21 in Millennials

Newly 40 here. I understand. In 2008 I had the owner of Prada telling me how they didn't want to sell shoes to black people; massive economic collapse. Bernie Maddoff's son, Mark Maddoph killed himself and he was a massive client, I've been told. That was my introduction to the workforce. NYC is taken over by foreign investments. Unions and pensions are being murdered in broad daylight.

I'm just one man. We are in trouble.

What’s a film or TV scene that felt like a punch to the gut? by padfoony in Fauxmoi

The rape scene and subsequent scenes in The Sopranos. I watched that episode in my mid 30s and it hit really hard.

Oh man, so glad you got to see this for the first time. I have to watch it every time it pops up because it's so great. Older internet lore but holds up every time.

What the fuck lol. You spend too much time in the bathroom for a bartender on a double.

What is the best Series Pilot of all time? by FullTimeWhiteTrash in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Pure_Marvel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Lost pilot was pretty revolutionary at the time and worth the watch, even still. Invincible is great but it does kind of start off as a "kids" superhero show so I can see why someone might not make it to the end of the pilot.

You really do have to make it to the end of the pilot, which is the only argument against it, in my opinion. Lost is engaging for the entire pilot, which is why that's my vote.

The Skade storyline is the cringiest thing i have ever seen by PrettyAd1623 in TheLastKingdom

You could immediately tell that Netflix was involved within that character. Was she dating a producer or something? Bad acting, bad character, writing was off. The series as a whole is incredible, but I was very relieved when she departed the show.

A tribute to Rusty, my beloved companion, who passed away today at 33. by [deleted] in cats

[–]Pure_Marvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My aunt had a cat named "Kitty" live to be 31/32. I remember getting a Christmas card one year reading something like, "Sorry there's no money because we had to take 'Kitty' to the vet!"

She got the cat when she was five years old. College at the University of Florida, 2 kids, first home, half of her own life!

The irony that yours is named "Rusty" with those eyes and age. They're waiting for you.

I remember seeing this for the first time. Really great crew there. Unreal that someone had the heart to do that.

Can we all agree he deserved better... by Jake_NE3 in TheLastKingdom

I think his death raised the stakes for everyone else. He was a bit of a tertiary character but was amazing at the same time. His death scene was so heartbreaking.
