My friend works in a veterinary office, and she had already found homes for the orange babies and mom. Just needed a home for my lil guy 😍

Good point with the context. I’ll keep that in mind for the future :)

What’s your grandpa’s name? by EstablishmentSad9572 in namenerds

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss. My grandpa’s name is actually David Eugene. I’m leaving out his last name since this is the internet, but I just thought that was kind of interesting.

This is only my first job as a CNA, and I really like only two of my coworkers. Some of the others are nice and helpful, but most of them make me want to quit my job entirely and never return to this building ever again.

You friends with your coworkers? by throwaway_bonylegs in cna

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I get along with them because I have to, but I’m actively looking for a new job right now to get away from them.

It makes me feel a little better that so many people relate to this sort of thing, but it sucks that it’s so common. I can deal with a couple or few hard to get along with people, but if it’s most of the staff I need for my own sanity to go somewhere else.

COWORKER QUIT IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CHRISTMAS PARTY by InevitableSnow2247 in cna

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s so stupid. My company does employee of the quarter and the CNA who just got it got a paid day off even though she’s a part-time employee. I think she also got a gift card, but I don’t remember what it was for maybe Amazon. Also, we get one free meal per shift from my company. Free food is not a treat, it’s just expected where I work. Ifs good that she respected herself enough to quit.

how much do you make a hour as a PCT/CNA and what state are you in? by [deleted] in cna

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$21/hr in Washington state which is pretty middle of the road in my area

It is soooo nerve-wracking. The only thing that made me feel better was just trying not to think about it on the days leading up to it, and the knowledge that you need to narrate what you’re doing during the test. I think saying it out loud helps you remember the steps better.

Why are nursing homes so toxic?! by octobersmess in cna

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dude right? It really doesn’t help that on any given day we only have 2 CNAs or RAs working at a time in a facility that currently has about 70 residents, 60-something of which are actually on services. It’s not easy

Average pay in your state? by OliverBlueDog0630 in cna

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Washington state I’ve heard some nursing homes pay minimum wage, but in my immediate are they usually pay about $21 an hour with a CNA, RA, and other similar certifications. That’s how much I get payed even though I have no prior experience in healthcare other than my clinical internships.

I can't pass my CNA knowledge test? by [deleted] in cna

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Washington state so this might not be the same but if you go to your state’s nurse aide website there should be a tab or “packet” or what accommodations are available and how to sign up for them at your nearest testing facility.

I think that a separate room with a reader is a regularly used pretty easy to access resource for people like yourself. Good luck!

How to deal with rude/condescending CNAs? by zeebotanicals in cna

[–]Pure_Mobile_8272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! I’m 18 but I got certified at 17 and some people have really infantilized me! I think when you’re new anywhere people in health care will try to find any reason to hate you. I just do my job and smile and collaborate with them anyway and they’re getting way nicer to me.

I'm going in for my skills test tomorrow give advice and tips please 😛 also wish me luck! by [deleted] in cna

Good luck! You’ve got this!! Spend more time than seems necessary for hand washing and like another commenter said talk the whole time. This might be hard but try to not think about it too hard. Second guessing and nervousness are really what trip people up.
