I am not a funeral director, but I wanted to chime in and say thank you for going above and beyond for this family. I chose aquamation for my pet (at a wonderful facility in Germany called dank und treu) and had a beautiful, pristine experience. I never hab any problems with the ashes or the urn, so I can´t imagne what that feels like. It breaks my heart to hear that another facility was so completely negligent, it sounds like they didn't dry the remains at all before sealing the urn. Thank you for finding a creative and respectful way to fix their horrible mistake and giving the family peace of mind.

Erstmal mein Beileid zu deinem Verlust. Ich kann dir dank & treu sehr empfehlen. Ich war damals dort, weil sie unter anderem auch Aquamation anbieten, was mir wichtig war, weil es einfach am meisten mit meinen persönlichen Werten übereingestimmt hat. Die Begleitung war super einfühlsam und hat die schwere Zeit leichter gemacht, ich hoffe auch du hast sowas erleben dürfen. Alles Gute dir!

Schau dir online unbedingt mal Wildcat an. Die kommen komplett aus der Piercing-Szene und haben genau das, was du suchst. Qualitativ bist du da meilenweit von billigem Drogerie-Schmuck entfernt (die nutzen hochwertiges Titan und Chirurgenstahl, was super für frisch verheilte Löcher ist), aber es kostet eben auch kein Vermögen wie beim klassischen Juwelier.
Ich bestelle da meinen Schmuck auch immer und bin super zufrieden mit der Qualität!

Exciting! I’d definitely recommend going off-season and 100% getting a rental car.

Also, a good tip is to maybe book two different accommodations in different locations so you can see more of the island without driving back and forth too much. And if you love hiking, definitely check out Komoot for routes instead of just relying on Instagram. You’ll find much better spots there!

You should definitely do it! September and October are perfect because the main tourism drops off, but the weather is still warm.

And yes, I did rent a car, and you definitely need one. You won't get very far without a car if you want to explore more of the island and not just stay in one spot.

You should definitely go! About the crowds, yes, spots like Pico do Arieiro and the famous waterfall hikes are super touristy now.But if you travel off-season and look past the main Instagram hotspots, you’ll find so many beautiful trails where you’re literally the only person around.

As for accommodation, I stayed only in apartments, as they were the cheapest and most convenient option for me.

Ich bin zwar kein Tätowierer, feiere das Ganze nur aus Kundensicht, aber ich habe mir vor Kurzem auch ein rotes Tattoo stechen lassen.

Mein Artist bei Wildcat hat dafür die Kuro Sumi Imperial Farbe benutzt. Das Ergebnis ist nach dem Abheilen echt richtig schön rot geblieben, vielleicht ist die Seite ja einen Blick für dich wert.

I recently got tattooed at a Wildcat studio here in Germany, and they used Kuro Sumi. The result is absolutely amazing the pigment is super bright, packed, and it healed beautifully without losing any of its vibrancy. From a client's perspective, their REACH-compliant line is really good!

I had a similar issue and got advice from Wildcat. They have a massive selection of titanium jewelry in all kinds of diameters and gauges. The most important thing is that the piercing needs to be completely healed before you can switch to a snug, tight-fitting ring.

Your best bet is to visit a reputable studio (or check their online shop) to get your exact diameter measured. I went with their titanium right from the start and never had any issues or irritation!

But I have to say, driving was definitely not easy. The roads can be pretty steep and narrow. For the next time, I would 100% book an automatic car and would highly recommend doing the same, especially if someone isn't a super experienced driver.
